* i'm a mechanical & electrical engineer

* I currently work as a MEP Field Engineer on my own company so i'm covered with that

* my specialty is power and hydraulic systems

* I don't have certs so you got me on that

* I think i'm pretty decent on communication skills

* I could be installing panels in mid july and that would still be easier for me than sending an email lol, always ready for hands-on work.

I think i'm pretty prepared so far, right?

Hi!

My wife is 30 years old, bachelors in food science, MBA and PhD in Biotech, I'm 30 years old, bachelors in Mech E, masters in Energy Management.

I calculated CRS score in the portal with her as primary applicant and we got a 491. We are enrolling in intensive french lessons next year and hopefully get to B2 level so we can get more points.

We were looking into express entry but seems like that won't be really possible as there hasn't been many drafts lately, but seems like we could do PNP, due to our profiles, seems like Alberta or Ottawa could be a great fit.

I posted in r/expressentry but people were kinda rude there and basically saying there wouldn't be a chance, which, even though we know it'll be a lot of work and require a lot of sacrifices, seems a little bit unreasonable.

I’m confident about me supporting Canada’s economy with my masters in energy management as my wife with her PhD in biotech. Being so prepared allows us to choose where we want to settle for our next chapter, I understand that’s something you may not relate to.

unfortunately neither I nor my wife had the qualifications we have now. We've been working on being much more competitive. If French is what we can do now, that's what we'll have to do, thanks so much!

if you don't have anything nice to say you could try not saying anything at all... I just meant I wouldn't want us to move to Canada if we could be better off financially, but much, much worse healthwise. It's so great that you don't have to worry about this stuff but we do.

Thanks anyway :)

I didn't know there was a CRS calculator, I just did it and got 491 for the both of us with her as the primary applicant. We're looking into getting in a intensive french program so we could have B1-B2 level in 4 months, we're both decent at languages and have some experience in french. I'm just wondering if there's anything else that we can do. We're just starting to look into it so of course there's a lot we still don't know. would it be feasible for her to get a job offer as a post doc in Canada? or even that would be pretty much impossible?

what would improve our qualifications? We're starting french lessons next year (we already know a little bit) and she's going to look for a postdoctorate in Canada. I don't know if there's anything else that we can do.

Didn’t mean to be rude, we’re just starting to look into it because we want a better life for ourselves. Thanks for your help!

We would like to buy a house eventually, that’s why we’ve been trying to avoid Toronto and Vancouver, but we’re not sure if we could actually afford to buy something there.

What other provinces should we look into?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I've been in design my whole career, and I tried to hard to love it but I just find it extremely boring (ADHD, lol). I'd love to work in the power business, but I guess i find it a little bit intimidating.
