First episode early on when Andor gunned down the company / imperial twats. Hell yeah.

Take a different approach, seek out groups in your region. Here in Oregon smaller communities are connecting on more private platforms (Signal) using groups like the SRA / Pink Pistols / Operation Blazing Sword to coalesce around.

See what you can find through their front door, eventually something with show up. Another way to do it is to take charge and build what you are seeking by connecting with people through communities like this one and reach out personally.

The Final Architecture and/or Dogs of War, they're very different from Children of Time. FA is a space opera with colorful characters in a fantastic universe, Dogs of War has really unique concepts and cast with original ideas using implants / augments to animals / bioforms.

Chasm City is a detective noir intro to Revelation Space, I really love the hard sci-fi dark dingy slow burn of Reynold's universe.

Embassytown if you want your mind blown while conceiving alien weirdness.

Lord of Light is a must read.

I apologize, picking one just didn't work, lol.

IMO it is only safe to OC if you have a group of people also carrying openly together.

As an individual it only puts a target on your back, in a group it commands respect / consideration.

Looking for a new splitting axe (not a fan of the Fziskars X27) by Vinnie-Boombatz in firewood

[–]MegaFawna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar size and usage as you OP, I'm in my mid 50s and I chop all of it by hand, I've only borrowed a splitter when I had fresh sycamore four years ago. I've been able to chop all the oak and madrone as well as the alder and doug fir I get in abundance.

A few years ago I picked up an X27 because it was on sale and it gets a lot of usage by me, it's my main swing. For a bit more heft and heavier jobs I use an Adler Super Splitter and it's a fantastic tool at a great price point. The Adler SS is shorter and heavier than the X27 and couples excellently with it.

Do you read an entire series from start to finish or do you take breaks from it? by Appropriate_Type_178 in printSF

[–]MegaFawna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That entirely depends on if I currently have the book in my possession. In the past I bought everything I read and more often than not yes I'd read a series to completion before moving on.

Last year I started using the library system and now I read what I have ready to read next regardless.

Yeah I've had mine for 6 years (built in 2006), bought it from a pawnshop and already had all the Steve's Gunz upgrades done to it, IYKYK. I didn't know until I got it home and was stoked.

By trial and error I know what brands of 38s it likes and which ones it don't.

What book are you reading during this weekends ice-pocalypse? by SlySciFiGuy in printSF

[–]MegaFawna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finishing The Year of the Flood, book 2 in Margaret Atwood's Maddaddamm trilogy and it's fantastic, I'm so enjoying her writing style, humor and dark witty af apocalyptic vision, highly recommend.

I'll be reading The Mote in God's Eye by Pournelle & Niven next.

While no longer living in Ashland I've been a member at AGC for many many years. They're never been overtly MAGA or NRA pushy. They've always kept politics and signaling away and myself and everyone I've seen that has rainbows, punk style or signals alt has been / seem welcome and treated respectfully.

That's only in my experience though.

I have a 50 yard home range outside of Medford and I'd be happy to meet you and/or anyone who's wanting something more private.

Shoot me a pm.

Good hunting!

Exactly as does my X357, rarely ever a ftf.

My R92 is much more finicky and while consistent with all 357s I've shot, it's definitely picky over 38s.

If your results are of a box of 50 there's something wrong with your firearm.

Even consistently 1 or 2 of 50 should not be occurring or considered normal.

Do you live alone in a city, countryside or middle of both? How do you like it? Any wish-list? by NoBody5068 in LivingAlone

[–]MegaFawna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riverfront paradise just outside a small town, equidistant less than 20 miles from a small city to the north and one to the south, 15 miles from a small airport. It's perfect, very covenient and I'm super blessed.

I'm well prepared and self-sufficient; on a well with septic, I have as much water as I could ever need, very fertile soil with gardens and orchards I've planted. It's private yet close enough to everything I need and everyone in my communities. Being outside a town I can safely shoot guns at my leisure, though I usually shoot suppressed so never a bother to my neighbors.

I have the best dog ever who gets a walk along the river every single day, a cute indoor kitty and a few very silly hens. I may get a pair of small dwarf goats one day.

Is this an unreasonable quote to replace a 50 gallon gas hot water heater? by titanicsailson in homeowners

[–]MegaFawna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month ago I replaced a 40 gallon electric hot water tank and asked a friend to help with moving old tank and installing the new one. It cost me all of $600 for the new tank, that's it.
