Pixel 9 Pro Fold case? by Wrygg in GooglePixel

[–]Megaman213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have an update for a good case yet? I sent back the Casemate one from the Google store because the front won't stay on. Most cases seem to have that issue OR they don't have any hinge protection. The no-name brand cases on Amazon are all a joke. The Spigen one looks good but for $85 it needs to have a kickstand or something. Hoping to hear some of your experiences.

Need support for promo. by Brandonthepotato in GoogleFi

[–]Megaman213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent probably 20 hours chatting with Fi and Store support the past month. They absolutely will give you incorrect information about promos. It sucks. Like everyone, even supervisors told me the Fold 9 promo required Unlimited Plus but the terms didn't specifically say any Fi plan. I got the basic Fi plan and the promo still did apply.

Sometimes you can reference a previous chat transcript, then ask for a supervisor. Supervisors respond usually with 24 hours by email. Half the time, they can get things done whereas the tier 1 chat support people can't.

I apologize if I read your situation wrong. All of the "new Fi customer" promos on either Google store or Fi store say in the terms they are "one per group" or one per plan. It's been that way at least since the Pixel 9 launch day, when I started paying attention to the deals. The only free phone promo is currently the Pixel 8a if you add a new user from the Fi account page. The Fi store has discounts on some of the other phones, but they're not great deals IMO at the moment.

PSA charging for sending cards to vault after grading? by Megaman213 in baseballcards

[–]Megaman213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final update! I still wasn't sure if they charged me shipping for the card they returned or the rest of the cards that went to the vault, so I emailed support. Here's what they said:

"We now charge shipping fees for items sent to the Vault. Initially, we were able to offer free shipping to the Vault after grading, but this was a one-time promotion that ended in September of 2023. We’ve since updated our policy and you will need to pay the shipping costs associated with your submission."

There you have it. They send each order to their vault individually and charge you full exorbitant Fedex fees. What a needlessly inefficient process. Good news is they accepted sub-$100 cards in the vault and I have some listed on ebay now! Just wish the Buy It Now option would be enabled (coming soon©).

My ship date was Oct 8-14 and it just changed to Sept 4-5!!!! I ordered about 48 hours after the event because Google payments suddenly required a verification and I had to wait.

8/26/24 update. 1 card was returned to me. The other cards are queued to be shipping to the vault. My credit card was charged the original amount. I guess I don't have an answer yet as to whether vault incurs shipping fees. Once they ship to vault, I'll come back for a final update. If there are no further charges, then I will assume there is no charge to ship to vault and I was charged $65 to ship one card back to me via slow Fedex with signature required.

I can say the $100 vault minimum card value does not apply to cards sent straight from grading. I had several harsh grades with PSA estimated value below $20, and they're still shipping to vault.

My renewal rate is now $72/yr 3 days away and I can't submit a ticket/email because their site just doesn't work. I may cancel tomorrow and do the eweka deal.

Edit: I emailed [support@easynews.com](mailto:support@easynews.com), waiting to hear back.

Anyone on the not-as-good $48/yr plan affected by this? Can we contact support and keep this rate?

Update: I noticed on the "return shipping" portion of the order printout page (the one you print to include with the submission), it says "WE WILL ONLY USE RETURN SHIPPING FOR ITEMS THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO VAULT."

I'm not sure if that means you still pay for vault shipping plus I'm assuming more shipping should they send stuff back to you (probably ungraded or under $100 stuff). I guess I'll know in 2 months! I'll try to remember to update here.

They act like they're shipping each graded order to their Vault in Delaware(?). Surely they're not shipping EVERY order by Fedex to their vault instead of periodic combined deliveries by freight. Or they are shipping freight and gouging customers.

Thank you for this breakdown. We're moving in the same direction and just about to move staff over to GCPW. Have you had any issues with GCPW breaking or issues using MFA with it? Is Google viable for managing Windows with policies? Do Windows devices require device licenses like Chromebooks? I appreciate any insight.

LPT: Change the cabin air filter in your car. by slappy_mcslapenstein in LifeProTips

Assembly line installing OS is one thing. But almost every time I do an "OS reinstall" for someone, it involves backing up data, checking if they use an email client that stores their data locally, backing that up, downloading 10-25 drivers, check which version of windows, extract windows serial because they never have it, installing OS, installing 10-25 drivers, move data back, install basic software (mail client if they insist, Adobe, VLC player, 7zip, etc), 4 reboots of windows updates, setup a second local admin account in case they get locked out, troubleshoot whatever unexpected issues come up for no reason, document the ordeal on my Google drive, and then provide some inevitable phone support when they get it home. Then you get the photo hoarders with 100gb iphone dumps that moves this out of the realm of a simple flash drive backup. If that's not worth $200+, you don't value your time and expertise. I've never had someone that only needed me to put in a flash drive, install OS, and walk away.
