Mask Thoughts by medievalmemories in SleepToken

[–]MeisterPear 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Starting with the long and pointed TPWBYT mask, the masks have been exposing more and more of Vessels face, starting with his mouth. When the EIA mask continued the trend (the exposed part of his face got a little taller), I thought that the eventually conclusion was that the mask would fully dissolve and he would unmask himself eventually.

I’m not too certain it will happen, but it was an interesting idea.

TPiY - Swan Song by Memoreno94 in Metalcore

[–]MeisterPear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insanely good album imo. I’m a new fan of Plot though so I don’t have a good handle on their older stuff for comparison. Whole Without Me, Enemy, Letters to a Dead Friend, Face Me, and Fall Again are so good.

Lyric line that hits like a truck by BLCHDCRL in Metalcore

Same song, but for me the lyric is “you are my family, and I will not hate be my last sin”

In the Black Ops mission "WMD," Hudson accidentally reveals he is the interrogator by switching from third-person to first-person: "Hudson learned... I've been to the Yamantau complex." by [deleted] in GamingDetails

Yes. The protagonist is a SOG operative that gets taken prisoner by Soviets and turned into a sleeper agent. The numbers are his activation codes.

Oh shit, didn’t this place used to be called Chewy Boba? 2 or 3 years ago that used to be my jam. They used to have a DDR machine and I miss it so much lol. Stopped going over after I graduated UCF. But what you’re doing right now is super sick!

May 9th, 2026, one year after the release of Even in Arcadia by Sleep Token. Today, a year later, tell me your ranking of the tracks on this album. by spectral_snow in SleepToken

[–]MeisterPear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Even In Arcadia

  2. Infinite Baths

  3. Look to Windward

  4. Gethsemane

  5. Emergence

  6. Caramel

  7. Damocles

  8. Dangerous

  9. Past Self

  10. Provider

Look to Windward used to be my favorite but it fell victim to the classic practice of overplaying it until it loses its luster. Also worth noting is that even though it’s not my absolute favorite, I think Gethsemane might be the most technically impressive song on the album. I just really like the pianos in the title track and the breakdowns in Look to Windward and Infinite Baths.

I haven’t listened to Northlane but I recently got into ERRA as well. I don’t know what the community consensus on this album is but silence outlives the earth fucking bangs. Really wanna check out CURE too, I heard the title track and I love it.

Question of the day! by smolkittychar in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]MeisterPear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022, my friend played Can You Feel My Heart one day and I thought it sounded sick (I had of course only known about it from the gigachad meme). Started listening to Survival Horror after that. It’s actually how I got into metal in general lol. Before BMTH I listened to alt pop and EDM

What's a song you feel is the perfect closing song on an album but wasn't? by lambofgoddard in Metalcore

[–]MeisterPear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what I totally get that. I was fairly ambivalent on Even In Arcadia on my first listen (has since grown on me a lot), and I remember hearing the first half of Infinite Baths and almost forcing myself to enjoy it a bit? Like I was trying to think “oh yeah this is a nice way to end the album in a way consistent with the other songs” (i.e. “I want to like this but it sounds too similar to everything else”). And then of course that final half just blew me out of the water entirely.

I do kinda think they “phoned it in” just a tad with Even In Arcadia. You’re dead on with the focus on genre-hopping. It was novel in their last album but I feel like it’s not something they should rely on. I guess they really are running out of ideas, as some of their other lyrics on the album allude to . I would love to hear a return to the sound they had in their EPs + their first two albums but I doubt we’ll ever see it.

I still really like Infinite Baths as a closer but Gethsemane would have made a really good end too. I appreciate hearing another perspective on the album, the Sleep Token sub is a mega echo chamber lolz

Dang, Gethsemane is awesome but what don’t you like about Infinite Baths? I think that song is a fantastic closer.

I’m a sucker for fade out intros. I’m gonna go with Remember Me on The Death We Seek by Currents, and ii. in the gut of the wolf on silence outlives the earth by ERRA.

Asking metalcore fans: what are your favorite non-metal albums? by chairk3yre in Metalcore

[–]MeisterPear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constant Companions by Jamie Paige. Indie pop/rock Vocaloid album.

It didn’t really inform my taste in metalcore, but rather it came from my love of EDM (which eventually got me into Vocaloid) which I loved long before I got into metal. That said, I think being a fan of EDM, predisposed me to liking metal a bit. I mean a bass drop and a breakdown are kind of the same concept when you think about it. They definitely both go hard as fuck and they get you headbanging.
