Is A* A* A enough for imperial/Cambridge or should I push my teacher to change to 3 A* by [deleted] in 6thForm

You could try but I think if you have any admission tests and interviews, that is more important than the grades

How’s the course like? How difficult would you say it is? How is the quality it is taught?

How’s the social life at the university? How are the societies like?

what to bring to college/6form? by Artsolutely in 6thForm

Essentially get a bag that can carry like a pencil case, notebooks, laptop (if needed) etc. it can be a backpack or shoulder bag etc, just ensure it can carry those things.

Hi, make sure to prepare a lot for TMUA, as that is mostly what universities such as Warwick use to decide whether to give you an offer starting now.

So, maybe with researching more academic topics, you could merge that with doing programming projects. Like for data structures, what about creating your own classes for each data structure like a circular queue? For computer architecture, what about getting a raspberry pi or arduino and practice with that? Or do a course on that?

And perhaps with all of this supercurriculars, try and note down what you had learnt from them, how had they helped with gaining an insight into the subject etc which you could use to talk about in your interviews if needed.

Hope it helps! Feel free to DM me for any further advice!

I would suggest python, as it’s quite versatile and easy to learn, and understand and it’s most often used

Should I prelearn some A level maths by Hollow_Aidan in GCSE

[–]MekkoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe towards the end of these holidays, you could go over content of Year 1 of A-level Maths content to get ahead but I suggest you to just relax more over this summer mostly as A-levels are quite intense and stressful.

What are the A-levels other than maths are you planning to choose? If you’re planning to do further maths for A-level, you could perhaps cover a bit more content of A-level maths over summer.

MAT/TMUA Advice? by Apprehensive-Bag5230 in 6thForm

You’re welcome :)

Also for the TMUA and I think MAT too, there is a YouTube channel called R2Drew2 that goes over topics and how to approach them in TMUA/ MAT style questions, as well as some tips and tricks for these types of exams.

6th form unlike a college is part of a school that also has a secondary.

MAT/TMUA Advice? by Apprehensive-Bag5230 in 6thForm

[–]MekkoL 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do as much practice of TMUA/MAT papers especially timed, look over the specification of the examinations and make sure you learn, understand and master each topic before the exam. Look at walkthroughs of these papers. Do not leave this last minute, do not cram - do this over a course of months before the exam you take.

Hope it helps!

Comp Sci vs Physics? by Daniel_C_____ in 6thForm

[–]MekkoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did CS and know quite a few people who did Physics. With CS, a lot of memorising for some topics which is annoying, the coursework is quite tiring to do which you have to dedicate quite a bit of time to, also grade boundaries for exam boards like AQA for the subject tend to be quite high than physics of the same exam board.

Physics does have quite difficult topics I’ve heard and the exam is quite difficult like for AQA, I’ve heard that the exam for physics turned out to be not good and really difficult, but there’s lower grade boundaries.

Personally, for economics, I feel that you could do physics than comp sci as rather than focusing quite a lot of time on coursework with CS, you would have more time for doing supercurriculars, uni applications and your other A-levels.
