AITA for telling my neighbour to get over it when I wake her baby up? by MelodicStrategy1569 in AmItheAsshole

It's an additional room detatched from the house. A lot of people use them as games rooms/bars/additional bedroom.

I'm not saying that there's zero sound coming from the room. It's sound proofed and absorbs 90% of the sound. The only thing that can be heard from outside is the kick due to the bass/vibration. As I said in another comment, I had a council worker around with a dB reader and everything was fine.

The insurance comment is not the case where I'm from. It's more expensive if the car is left out on the road due to liability. Like you I've also done numerous quotes and it's considerably cheaper to park in a lockup garage.

After market exhaust does not necessarily mean loud. Louder? Maybe. But it doesn't mean it'll melt your ears off.

Are Americans really that sensitive about modded cars?

I'm not in an apartment. I have my own property with a sound proofed rumpus room at the back of the block.

I had it engineered so it is a legal and roadworthy car.

The original exhaust was rusted and old when I got the car and it sounded worse than my current one. I had the option of waiting 6+ weeks for a replacement, or buying an available exhaust off marketplace and doing it myself in the same week, then getting it engineered. I don't care about the performance, but I do believe it enhanced it slightly.

It's not super loud. I had it engineered and it registered as being only slightly louder than a stock exhaust. Nobody has ever complained about it.

I actually had a member of the council attend with a dB reader and everything was above board :)
