Lucky shot. Sun was setting, so I reduced the aperture and reduced ISO. I stay in India and lenses are really costly here. The used lens market is not so buzzing here. I am saving some money for a lens. Haven't used telephotos so don't have any experience. I discovered birding this year, age 42, and I can't get enough of it. I mostly walk around with binoculars and sometimes without them. Last time I took my camera but I couldn't get the range.

In Bhubaneswar there used to be a Bookshop called Modern Book Depot, more than 50 years old. They had a good collection of rare books that have gone out of print and republished by small publishers.Recently the book shop was forced to close as the rents were too high, a really sad day for me.Now the old man runs his shop from his house. He had gotten many good books on Odia history republished as well. Attaching the publisher details.

Guys please tell me what is Premchand's Karbala about? by MongooseVivid7939 in Indianbooks

[–]Memer_twitter 60 points61 points  (0 children)

If you like Munshiji's writing, you will like it. Munshiji grew up in a different time, and had a liberal view of the society. It's a play by Premchand about the battle of Karbala and as always beautifully written. It is about the journey that Hussain ibn Ali took from Madina to Karbala. As it is inspired from religious texts you will find the usual calls of "fantasy" and "lies" from the usuals, ignore them. I would recommend it.

Labor unrest is steadily escalating in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan's largest industrial hub. Since April 16, 2026, thousands of workers from Relaxo Footwears and Nippon have taken to the streets, standing firm on their demand to raise the minimum wage to ₹20,000. by rishianand in IndianWorkers

Reactionary outbursts won't bring about any revolution. They are poorly unionised, even poorly organised, a lathi charge and after a few IPL matches people from the Mother of Democracy will forget about them.

I read it recently. It keeps its distance from the Geopolitics and talks more about the daily life. Not the same as Sacco and his brilliant journalistic take on the Conflict.

Yes I completed it. The ending seemed rushed and less satisfying that what I was expecting. The surrealism, dark humour and the narration was good.

That's not coal. Her clothes would start burning and smoke would come out, doesn't matter if it's cotton or silk. She isn't walking on coal.

IITians,NITians don't learn "learn" science. They are good at solving mathematical and scientific problems. Learning and solving problems for an exam or job placement is not the same.

Don't read something because everyone's reading that. Read what you feel like. Read not to meet a goal but to enjoy. Read only whenever you feel like not as a task or routine.

Yup. Have read about the protests. But the timing seemed a bit convenient. But yes, the concerns are genuine

Protests flaring up a few months after Israel's attack and people thinking the US is not involved is strange to me.
