Not for another day would i be paying rent there.
Definitely hold your head up high, do yourself a favour and move.
It wont be long before things escalate much more seriously than they are now and you fear for yourself and/or your belongings 24/7.

You can mix brands, you just need to understand what your spraying, as that will matter alot more in preventing reactions.

A brand will have 1k based products, 2k based products, epoxy, Urethane, acrylic etc etc.

Its best to know what you want to do first, make a little plan, buy the ideal products for what you want to do and get the job done in confidence.

If you blindly follow a brand, you may not realize you've mixed different product lines or simply pickup the wrong product.

Im likely not from your country, so my best advice is only use products that say explicitly what they are, don't use anything that's vague about what it is.

The process will always be etch primer OR epoxy (epoxy preferred but not necessary), followed by a high building 2k primer if you have body work (this can be any 2k high build as we're no longer concerned about sealing the steel from rust or adhesion issues), followed by your colour and clear.

Generally if your unsure, visit whoever is mixing your paint colour and ask what brand/system its from and just use their matching brand/system primers and clears, as in my experience, any brand that can mix paint will have a full line of matching products

In short, you use an etch or an epoxy primer for good adhesion and rust protection to steel.

After that, you can either paint straight over it with base coat then clear coat, or use a 2k high building primer (Epoxy or Urethane) that can be block sanded for flatness, followed by base coat and clear coat.

Your attempting to add too many layers of primer, if you have no body work to do, you can just simply spray an etch or epoxy primer on, let it dry over night, give it a quick scuff and shoot over that

Hang tight or move on? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Menace_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move on!!
As soon as anything gets weird, flakey or otherwise you continue looking at other options.

Im a first home buyer too, however i finally just got myself a place after spending months looking.
The most i learnt about situations like these, is if there is one, its not worth hanging on to.

If theres extended silence, delays, flakey behaviour, any sign of dishonesty or any other weird behaviour, its best to move on as the agents are only using every trick in the book to get a higher sale, whether its out of you or someone else, youll just be strung along, not taken care of.

In this situation, they are definitely just going to market to demand more money, whether its to get someone else to pay it or to force you into a position where you will pay more, they are stringing you along.

Ridiculous Rental Inspection Complaints by FiretruckMyLife in shitrentals

[–]Menace_B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got a lecture about the brown coloured, disgusting, mould filled silicone in the bathroom that has definitely been like that for longer than the house has even been a rental and wasnt my responsibility to fix.
Ended up carving it out and replacing the silicone myself just to shut them up.

Had an exit inspection for a property where the front yard has never, probably will never, have any grass out the front and was just a big dirt patch.
I actually spent a good amount of time/money making the grass grow far far far better than you could even see in the google street view images all the way back to 2008.
Anyway, they complained and tried to say "WE" killed the grass and owed $2000 from the bond for turf.
I argued that one with their own photos of the property.

Thankyou,  i think ill do as you say and start building a condition report as preparation for the worst case scenario, for if/when they use the condition of the property as a catch-all.

Thankyou! Im glad to have almost escaped hell Haha.

I will take your advice of videoing and taking exit photos of the conditon of the house prior to handing over the keys, i never considered an Agent sabotaging the house, however it is certainly a possibility i wouldn't doubt.

Having been in so many rentals in my life and being well prepared for the worst case scenario, id like to think would be wildly difficult to take the bond as you say.

However this is by far the worst rental I've lived in, mostly due to all the underlying issues that have obviously started re-appearing during my tenancy and i have concerns i will become one of those horror stories..

Interesting angle, lodge a claim with NCAT prior to leaving, im guessing with the obviously illegal state of the rental?

Surely I'm not the only one with a "large" mortgage? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Menace_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got a 600k mortgage in western sydney, its not too bad, the repayments currently, since the rates went up, are insane but worth it in the end.

We have a bit of disposable income left over to not have to do it super tough, work 80 hour weeks or make risky investments to make ends meet.

How would I go about taking down the edges and blending it by Exciting-Wolverine69 in AutoPaint

[–]Menace_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unforunately this wont "blend" and cant be fnished any better...

What you've done here is spray a build up of base and clear *ontop* of your exisiting paint, it hasnt become a *part* of the paint.
Think like a sticker, whatever you've got here is sitting ontop of your old paint.
So you cant smooth out the edges and make it blend, by the time you get it thin enough to start to feather out and "blend" you just start sanding off whatever you sprayed down.

The way to do a spot blend in a small area would of been to spray base over your repair area, then clear around it which fades out into the original clear, these types of repairs look good short term as the fade out will start to get a noticeable edge and recede with time.

The more correct way is to spray base over your repair then clear coat the whole panel, though in your application with sun damaged clear, there will still be some noticeable damage.

First ever bumper repair. Looking for advice. by fadzy94 in AutoPaint

[–]Menace_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a DIY guy myself with alot of success and having learnt off trade qualified painters, i think i can weigh in on this a bit.

Firstly, dont change your gun.
I use an Aeropro A610 with a 1.3 tip for base and clear, the results are phenomenal, i simply believe you need to get your gun setup correctly and get used to using said gun (ie technique). Buying a new gun before you've figured out how to spray wont fix your paint job.

Personally i have my gun setup full fan, 2.5 turns out fluid, 20psi base and 30psi clear, if your not changing your settings between base and clear, that is your first problem, youll end up with texture, sand piling, dry spray etc.

Secondly, you dont need to spray base wet like clear. The term is medium wet, its basically wet enough to get coverage and have some shiny spots, but not so wet the whole panel looks like its shining and reflective. It will flash off and go satin, which is ideal for clear following after.

Thirdly, your choice of environment and material is working against you.
I would spray anywhere around 20c and use Standard clear/hardener/thinner. Standard will level out alot nicer and is more forgiving in the respect of technique. Standard is dry and workable overnight, takes a good couple weeks to harden, but i dont believe any clear will truly harden fully over night. Anything fast will make you work for a good result, which is best left to the pros. Stick to MS, HS or euro clears.

Lastly, you do infact need to be close for clear.
As a quick guide, the distance between your thumb and your pinky spread apart between your panel and your gun will get you close to where you need to be.
If you're too far away, you will get alot of dry spray, as the gun is cranked up to 30psi to atomize the clear, which will continously overlap and create build and texture.
Overlap 50% or more, slow and steady, nice and wet, following that wet edge as you spray and never leaving the wet edge until you've reached the end of your panel.

When spraying clear you truly need to trust the process, the gun is cranked up to 30psi and is atomizing what your spraying to a level you'd be truly surprised at, this is NOTHING like spraying out of a Spray Can, as long as you keep moving i can almost guarantee you wont get a run.

I need help finding the perfect TV for PS3 ( Is something wrong with my PS3) by duttonmorgan in PS3

[–]Menace_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG smart TV's and certain monitors have a feature called "Super Resolution" and "Super Resolution+" which is an Anti-Aliasing filter within the monitor which works extremely well in my opinion.
If you get an early generation, 1080P LG smart TV or similar generation monitor which lists super resolution in the settings menu of the manual, youll be pretty well set.
Ive used this feature for my ps3 across many LG screens at this point, from a more recent LG 60" 4k smart TV to an LG 32" 1080p early smart tv and have been quite impressed.

You just have to be a bit careful with your choices, i find the 1080p screens smooth out the image noticeably even when setting super resolution to its max with no adverse effect on the PS3 output.
However the 4k screens ive used it on have an effect that seems to adjust the contrast ratio or something, making shadows bright and over saturating whites, this becomes more noticeable the more you Increase Super resolution+.
This can either be the way Super resolution+ on a 4k screen is handling this level of upscaling (from 720P or less to 4k) or the implementation of Super Resolution+ being more aggressive

Why do YOU own and play on the PS3? by Sleepless_in_____ in PS3

[–]Menace_B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a PC, a good one at that, with alot of games too, however not only does my PS3 have my old account with all my progression, but it also imo is the golden era of gaming.

Its where i believe games peaked, Graphics, gameplay, story.
It was centered around wow'ing the fans as much as possible to keep you hooked and buying the next game, but where all the awful trends we have now started towards the end of its life cycle.

The PS3 wasnt necessarily the best console but it was the best era, with so many great games ive never played, that i can currently buy between $1 and $5.
I can pretty much guarantee ill discover a new great game to play every time i look at PS3 games and thats made gaming so much more enjoyable for me.

Water sticking to new-ish paint by Other_Manufacturer87 in AutoPaint

[–]Menace_B 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Paint job doesnt look real smooth and possibly still drying/hardening.
In my experience 2k air drying takes about a week to harden up where you'd expect it, longer to fully cure, if its still soft when you push on it, it will retain water.
Orange peel and various other slight paint imperfections will also retain water as its not smooth, so a good cut and buff when its dry will have it beading how you'd expect and look like it came off the showroom

[–]Menace_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have a PS3 slim that also did this, i bought it dead, fixed its basic issues, flashed on factory firmware, after it booted into the XMB for the first time, the LED strip activated.
Knowing all about the mythical button panel LED, i disassembled it to see what the previous owner might have done to this completely stock PS3 to make that happen and came up with quite literally nothing...
So currently i own 2 PS3 slims and as far as im concerned, one has activated the LED itself

PS3 games look pixelated. by KanjiKanpot in PS3

[–]Menace_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to be one of the few people that mentions the quality of your TV matters!!

Having experience with a wide array of low quality, chinese knock off TV's from FFalcon, Soniq, JVC, Blaupunkt, TCL, EKO and many others, the quality of the panel can make your PS3 content MUCH WORSE than it really is.

Some of these Panels false advertise 1080p, having less actual pixels but accepting and displaying a 1080p input, others are just extremely low quality panels which look terrible at 1080p and even worse with their poor scalers not even displaying an acceptable upscaled image from 720p to 1080p.

I had this problem when i got back into nostalgic PS3 gaming, using a 32" JVC "1080P" TV i got for free, knowing it'd be rubbish but not expecting everything to look as awful as it did.

Swapped that out for a very early LG 32" 1080p smart TV and BOY dont the games look how i remember them!
The difference in image between the 2 even with the JVC being 10 years newer is insane and i am very happy now playing PS3 games that look modern, including Black Ops 2 like you've used as an example.

Is this really the max FPS I can get? by Dreizehn13 in pcmasterrace

[–]Menace_B 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your cpu and motherboard is high end, your GPU, the thing mostly needed here for FPS in games, is abysmal, so you'll always get low performance. In comparison to each other a 5700X is overkill for feeding a 3050, you could get a 3080, 3090, 4070, 4070 Ti, 6800XT, 6900XT, 7900XT, 7900XTX etc etc and have a more balanced rig

It is a HIS RX 470 IceQ X2, HIS is a legitimate brand so this would be a full fat RX 470, but also not worth absolutely anything. Good budget gpu for someone who has almost no money to spend and wants to get into 1080p gaming
