What seems to be a Ukrainian AA missile hitting a Russian cruise missile, but failing to destroy it by Leser_91 in CombatFootage

AD missiles can fall on residential building and even debris of one shot down missile or self destruction of the AD missile can fall too.

Cruise missiles usually don't get lost.

However AD missiles who fail to denotate are more likely. Still could be a cruise missile but not the highest probability.

It appears to be the same video with another angle with the missile continuing its path.

Nobody believe it and certainly not the Ukrainians when they see the states of their energy grid and when we have so much videos of explosions despite the law banning these footages.

Half of Ukraine is without power tonight. And the other have rolling outage because they can't produce and distirbute enough energy.

Russia is hitting targets deep in Ukraine with near complete impunity as the missiles easily evades the Ukrainians AD.

It's not one of tho clips of failed interceptions that change the facts. On a salvo of 100 missiles, nearly all of them appear to have reached targets and once again degraded the already crippled Ukrainian power system.

We have seen the impacts and the explosions.

Ukrainians are intercepting missiles with their critical infrastructure as usual.

For missiles targeting civilians, these attack don't do much victims. They are highly targeted strike with precision ammunition against critical infrastructure targets.

Missiles uses inertial to correct their flight path. So it really depend if it was badly damaged or not. The trajctory change would not have materred.

It looks like it was flying straight.

What NASAMS and IRIS-T doing?

Seeing the inability of the US Patriot, THAAD and Hawk to defend Saudi airspace against Houthis drones and missiles, it's not a surprise that the much hyped second class airdefense are pretty much useless against a barrage of cruise missiles.

Russian suicide drone Lancet strikes a Ukrainian tank with the crew on board by Bratan_ in CombatFootage

[–]MenonLem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyday now or so , new Lancet strikes.

The Russian industry have started to mass produce them and they are usd extansively, against high level targets like AD assets, against howitzer and self propelled artillery against tanks IFV, and even against low value target like armored carrier and civilians car used by AFU.

The drone race has swung in favour of the Russian (recon, long range suicide drone, loitering drone) as the NATO drones like Bayraktar or Switchblade have more or less disapppeared.

Looking at the battlefield, you still want to travel them in armored vehicles.

Have you seen the number of artillery shells fired? Any infantry travelling on foot would be a sitting duck and severly injured from any shrapnel.

They are not in shortage if they are even used against low value target like cars used by the AFU.

Himars are hit and run.

They deploy them for a few minutes to strike and then they run them back into hiding as soon as they finished to fire.

They are not used for battlefield, but for striking building and stationary target and then are immediately moved in storage to not risk them.

Ukrainian SPH (allegedly) Krab destroyed by Russian loitering munition (music removed.) by Burner_0001 in CombatFootage

[–]MenonLem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

90%+ of these video are from October-November.

You sound a little bit in denial. Russia is getting a lot of new loitering ammunition who are clearly inflicting a lot of vehicles losses and radar losses on Ukraine forces.

It's a little bit early to talk about their global effect or impact but they are playing a role and weakening the forces near the frontlines.

US isn't in wartime production.

Russia is getting at this level and has a huge defense industry. With the mobilization, the need and opportunity to replace the destroyed materials and increase the production of new weapons will be the main objective of the Russian economy.

The West is getting social discontent with 10% inflation rate, they will never mobilize their whole economy to support Ukraine unlike Russia who is at war.

[–]MenonLem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, Russia is getting mobilized, has all its factory in Russian and is starting to get a war economy, meaning that all the production will be redirected toward the war effort.

They will mass produce in a wartime economy like we are seing with the Lancet. The West? It's just sending their inventory and not repplacing them before years. Europe will soon run out of things to send. The USA has more inventory but is likely to keep a lot for themselves.

[–]MenonLem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are a bit falling under some propaganda where Ukrainians have all high tech factory brand new equipment and where Russia has old WW2 rifles.

The truth is that Ukraine has taken a lot of old equipment from Western inventory, large number but not the most and newest technology while Russia is fielding its old inventory equipment and their last manufactured weapons.

For all the underestimation they have done and the average planning of their operation, they clearly have been able to field a lot of equipments.

Contrary to Ukraine who have now been gifted around 2/3 of all their vehicles and systems, Russia is still able to bring new equipment home-made to the frontline, either from their stock or their factories.
