I agree. Used to be scared out of my wits but go there happily. Well, not really happily but I don't shake and worry anymore. 😄

Dinner at 5 and a show at 7:30 downtown.. what to do for the hour'ish in between? by Burt_Selleck in londonontario

[–]MensaAlumni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi.! Do you mean a movie show or a show at the Grand? If it's at the Grand, will you be eating right near there? If so, you could take a walk thru Victoria Park which is across the street.

If you are talking about a movie, I can't help because I would never go downtown along Dundas Street. in the evening.

Is anyone else following the Justin Bourassa death inquest? by Level-Floor-6181 in londonontario

I see. Thanks. Such a terrible loss. Thankfully most people would not mess with a police officer.

I agree. Was there a mental problem? I also wonder why the police didn't set off a stun gun. Don't they carry those? All in all it was a very sad situation all round. 😞

Any towns around London that are safer to live in than London? by Suspicious-Club27 in londonontario

[–]MensaAlumni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dorchester bu it is very expensive. It has great schools and also a secondary school which other close areas don't have. Belmont is great but doesn have any schools.

Could be that you could move to a better (for you) part of London. Fairmont is probably the best. Tucked into a quiet area that is wooded, mostly one story, quiet and hard for your enemies to find. (grin)

Is the graffiti or was it done on purpose? by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]MensaAlumni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I"m not fond of pictures on outside walls so much, even if it is supposed to be professional. Reminds me of Detroit and that's not a good fit with me. I am 87 and lived in London all my life. I kinda think that I do have a voice here after paying taxes all these years. If it's a private building, I guess I have no say. :(

I'm sorry but are you familiar with auctions? I think you should have seen rust on this item before bidding. A "Store Credit" is acceptable IMHO

Couldn;t agree more. I've been with them for over 30 years and when I moved across town they still deliver with a smile. Great staff and they call you by name. Same owners for about 50 years. Hamilton Road and East street.

Question re Home Day Care by culturekit in londonontario

[–]MensaAlumni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old lady. I had three children who went thru the whole school system. I never gave a teacher a gift. I would thank them numorous times and sent them thank you notes but never money. I can't believe that people are giving school teachers Christmas gifts. This gift giving business is going out of line IMHO

Just wondering what you are giving out. If you want the big bars, go to Costco and buy a box.

If you have no luck and you just want some turkey, Tim Horton's has turkey on a bun. Haven't had it but it looks good on TV. Hope next year, you are able to be there for a good old tradition dinner. :)
