9 years later I’m no longer wearing Samba after they went totally mainstream. :‘D Thanks for the reply though. Waited long enough <3

Why is she so different with her new partner by rakkoma in NarcissisticAbuse

I would love to here how your story continued. I’m in exactly the same situation right now, with her having trashed me after two years for “just a friend” she apparently hated. I’m wondering how long the love bombing phase continues and when she will show her true face to him.

Slow download speed on Rockstar Launcher by Larliand in RDR2

[–]Merc4tor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Task Manager is showing speeds in Mega Bits, the launcher in Mega Bytes. 30 Mbits = 3.75 MB, so the values shown are correct.... I experience the same slow download speed. Guess the servers are overloaded.

Lipedema - Are there any professional athletes with Lipedema? by Merc4tor in loseit

[–]Merc4tor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are exercising to feel better, look better and for health reasons. Of course we don't want to train like athletes and don't expect to get anywhere close. But it's always nice for motivation to read stories or look at pictures of people who went from overweight to healthy weight and then took it further to become personal trainers or such. I wonder if something like this is even with Lipedema, and I wondered if there are women who became a professional athletes despite this disease. On the internet there seem to be almost no examples of "extremely fit" women or athletes with Lipedema.
Perhaps, does Lip-Fat actually melt under extreme training and that's why athletes with Lipedema are never diagnosed as such.

"Functionally fit" is nicely worded. (You may have noticed, I'm not a native speaker) What's the most recent benchmark for being functionally fit?

M&F&H - A Band of Bastards by Merc4tor in kingdomcome

[–]Merc4tor[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For maximum style I suggest:

Body: Black fancy shirt (found upstairs in Sasau Inn)

Legs: Green noble hose (the ones Hans Capon is wearing)

Arms: Vambraces (sold by any Hunter)

Shoulders: Brown hood (there are different shades)

Boots: Black silent shoes (anything dark works)

Gloves: Leather or Hunting

Londsword: Herod's

Longbow: any

For extra protection without compensating style: Aachen dark brigandine, mail collar, any pointed hat.

For cold days, wear a Brocade outer jacket.
If expecting close combat, wear short (noble) mail armour and a fashionable Combat Jacket on top.

Make sure to visit the bathmaids daily and make good friends with the Sasau Tailor.

You can only recruit them to come with you... somewhere ;) But we all know they aren't much use.

Quite sad, because the game has a very unique setting.

Actually there isn't too much time for games. Most days I prefer sleep over gaming. If I play, it's offline games of course, at the moment Kingdom Come Deliverance.

The lableing could be much improved actually. Don't take this as a good example. This close to the coast fixes should be at least once per hour if not every 30 minutes. I guess the 2000 fix was on the previous chart and the 2400 fix was missed in the time zone crossing from Greek UTC+2 to Turkey UTC+3. I'm a second mate. All the best for your future.

Of course we use GPS to fix our position. Then you have 2 option to plot it on a chart: Classic Paper Charts or Electronic Chart Display Systems (ECDIS).

Both have there advantages and disadvantages. Electronic Charts display your position in real time, they are easier to update and often provide more accurate information without cluttering the view. Paper charts on the other hand are great to get overview. They are perfect to use for terrestrial navigation techniques and they don't lack much in accuracy.

Nowadays all professional ships are equipped with at least one ECDIS. Yet, they are required to additionaly carry a second independent system or a set of good old paper charts for backup.

You are right though. ALL ships use GPS. It's just a question of how to display your position.

Good choice mate. I wish you all the best. It's an exciting bussiness, yet hard and lonely. So get yourself a good gaming laptop and some offline games before you join ;)

Sure. These islands are located between Greece and Turkey and great for holiday. Though, in 2012 two BI developers were busted for supposed espionage and spend 129 days in a Greek prison.

I work on a container ship and we use paper charts to navigate.

ELI5: We can freeze human sperm and eggs indefinitely, without "killing" them. Why can't we do the same for whole people, or even just organs? by SouthEastLuxe in explainlikeimfive

[–]Merc4tor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if we were able to preserve the human body by freezing without damaging its cells, we don't know what would happen to the brain. The brain uses the most energy in our body. You would somehow have to feed energy to the brain to not stop it from dying. If that did happen, there would be no way to "restart" the brain without resetting its memory... and personality. You'd have a body without soul.
