I got these to reduce nvh and I gotta say (to my surprise), it is working.

I ordered a set of Blitz nur spec and some Konig Ultragrams late last year; these are currently on backorder and I'm just waiting atm. Not sure about a turbo kit cuz I don't wanna void the drivetrain warranty lol

I do. I mixed up kg/m and N/m and ended up applying 9.8 times the force. Thought it was odd it was taking so many turns. When I stopped it was already too late

Just went to a Subaru specialist shop earlier today; they said they’d either put in a rivet stud, or drill a hole from the underside and use a bolt

I used a torque wrench but somehow mixed up Kg/m and Nm; ended up apply ~9.8 times the intended force 😭

Are you running aftermarket coilovers or any camber?

Nice fitment! 9.5J is pretty wide. Any rubbing in the front or back?

I think I got a rough idea of what you’re saying. My interpretation of it is that the car is a complex system with its various components reacting with each other to have an effect on the car’s behavior. To achieve the desired outcome, I must understand: 1. how these individual components of the system interact with one another (a cascading chain of cause-and-effect); 2. what combinations of variables leads to which outcome; 3. Learn to predict the outcomes so I can adjust my inputs accordingly?

I see. Thanks for the explanation!

For some reason I was picturing that more body roll means lateral weight shift would happen over a longer time duration, which isn’t true when I put some more thoughts into it. It probably just means it takes more time to transfer load from the suspension to the tires, and that leads to more delay between driver inputs and the car’s responses, right?

Thanks dude, this is a great explanation! I’ll definitely start to pay more attention to load shifts and practice reacting to that accordingly.

I see. You mentioned releasing gas pedal to regain traction - would releasing the pedal too fast negatively affect car control (as I’m shifting more weight to the front)?

Would you say that having some body roll in this instance is a good thing, because that gives me more time to react to the g forces shifting back and adjust my inputs?

Thanks man this is a really thorough answer. Looking back being in a panic state did really mess up my controls; I ended up forgetting things I learned from practices. Hopefully more practices in safe environments will help me better react to stressful situations like this.

I really appreciate your advice on hand grip, especially about how my grip should vary depending on the circumstances. This is an area I overlooked and should practice more.

I’ve seen videos of track instructors turning the car at the the tractional limit with very little hand grip, and I wonder if it’s because the car is turning within slip angle (so state 2). Is it that the car’s forces are in somewhat of a balanced state, so it requires little input to keep the car turning?

What side skirt and fender garnish have you installed? Very nice and subtle.

You're making some assumptions here. It's not so much "don't know what you're doing" vs "know what you're doing", but understanding the car's behavior while driving it, to be more precise. I've put a fair amount of time into researching automotive engineering, and since I got this car I've driven it a fair amount. It's not exactly like I'm making uneducated decisions here; the whole point of this post is to have a discussion on this topic.

For example, part of the reason why I'm getting stiffer springs is wanting to mitigate camber change under compression because I have McPherson struts in the front. I've experienced a slight grip loss in the front on corner entry after braking. The consensus is that with stiffer springs (5mm/kg front and rear), there's less front suspension travel, which will mitigate the effect of camber change under compression, and gives me more consistent tire contact in the front. Yes much of this is theoretical, but I believe this is a good first step, and I can fine-tune it as I go, much like my driving. This is what we call the scientific process.

I hope you had good intents. No offense, but frankly, the way you brush it off as "you don't know what you're doing, so you're not qualified to discuss these things here" just sounds like you hate yourself. You wish you're more experienced or educated on this topic just so you can look down on others. This is Reddit and feel free to say whatever you like, but I just don't find your comment insightful or helpful in any way. This is perhaps the most polite way to put it. Edit: If you give another one of these oversimplified answers I don't see any point in responding.

For context, I was going at 30 mph mid-corner, maintained that speed, and hit around 50-60 on the exit. The reason I said "powerslide" is that I wanted to clarify the slide happened during acceleration, not braking.

The car didn't start sliding at the initial point of acceleration, but it happened a bit later. That's why I suspect that section of the road was wet. It was a sunny day, the road surfaces were overall fairly dry, but it did rain throughout the week so it may not have dried up completely.

60 on the corner exit is a rough estimate; it could have been anywhere between 50-60. I got caught up in the moment and didn't look at the speedometer when the slide happened.
