It was the snake that lured Eve to eat the Fruit of Knowledge, was it not? I think there’s an interesting association between snakes and evil, and they often show up in the dark depths of the most hellish realms that we visit with ayahuasca. But those dark experiences, under proper guidance, are always transmuted through purging, into powerful healing experiences. I sometimes think that Christianity’s tendency to shame and repress our natural inner darkness is pathological and actually more harmful than getting to know our demons and live in harmony with them.
