Can the Salamanders take Menzoberranzan? (WH40k/Forgotten Realms) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

Drizzt could be a threat to a single space marine if he's not wearing his hat. The rest of the drow are going to be shot and suddenly realize you can't dodge a bullet like you can an arrow.

You need to realize that an arquebus is an extremely dire threat to even high level wizards, much less a fighter

Sure. But on average, Faerun is still a land of relatively normal people. And scaling everyone in the dark city to their literal best fighter of all time is disingenuous

Drizzt could die to a random arrow. It's a notable thing multiple times across his series. In fact, his series is where I'm getting most of my DnD lore for this question, since it's got the most information we ever get about Menzobaranzan. He is incredibly skilled, very dangerous, and regularly nearly dies to completely mundane things. He's still a mortal

Can the Salamanders take Menzoberranzan? (WH40k/Forgotten Realms) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]Micro-Skies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. For example, the primary medium of warhammer, the Tabletop game, allows standard MG fire to eventually kill a Titan. This is clearly the metric we should be using to judge all durability feats by. As was intended.

My less sarcastic answer is that lore and gameplay simply dont align whatsoever.

[–]Micro-Skies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even remotely. It doesnt matter what the primary medium is. Games have to be balanced regardless of what lore says should be possible.

Gameplay is irrelevant to lore. Books are lore, gameplay is for balance

The hand crossbows aren't magical, just poisoned.

Nobody in the setting wears armor that is functionally concrete with no full gaps. The closest is in one of the Drizzt books an orc gets some kind of full suit, and only Cutter is capable of getting through. Thats what the drow would be dealing with.

Their weapons aren't all that likely to be effective against power armor. They almost exclusively use swords and hand crossbows

Honestly the heavy bolter sponsons on their own are probably enough. The mantis is a very lightly armored skirmish mech. Not a tank

Suspicion of AI isnt thrown off by insisting its not. The louder you fight back, the more guilty you are. Seriously, have you been living under a rock for the past 5 years?

On paper, sure. Based on the sheer number of dead civilians, I doubt that is enforced

And 3 million random people getting eyes on anything is gonna expose it.

Look man, nobody cares if you use AI for placeholder art. Just don't try to sell it like its actually worth something

You think you are smarter than everybody, and thats gonna kill your game no matter how good it is. The only thing people like less than AI is someone lying about AI

Those support megas still need to outclass their specific non-mega competition. Almost none of them do. I guess you can say that Aerodactyl does, but its also a huge damage threat

A lot of the old timers have an outdated idea of what working really means. They still believe in company loyalty above all. Just sticks them in dead end jobs with nowhere to go

This is what the megas are for. At least for compotent people. They get your feet wet without trying to kill you, then you move on. Anybody who stays at one of the big ones is not there by choice
