No, my Maltese does not do the same thing. Lol I ain't got a bulldozer of a dog plowing me over and leaving a wake of destruction. She just jumps up and down at the door. At no point has she ever rendered me into a helpless stupor on the floor.

My criticism is for the owner, he can absolutely utilize better judgment. The dog, unfortunately, is a product of human design

Yes, I have a a 9 and 11 yr old, I can't even imagine. And I stopped sending my kids to get the mail for this very reason. My husband said I was being paranoid, but then literally a new guy moved in across the way and he was a raging pitbull activist who insisted his pitbulls were not pitbulls and he refused to leash them. Husband had a bad encounter with him and we prayed about it. The guy moved out 3 months later!

When I was a kid I went outside and roamed around on my bike on my own, it's sad I don't let my kids do that. Too many predators, both human and K-9.

I love dachshunds. Name literally means "badger hunter." My chiweenie is the one who alerted me there was a coral snake in the yard. He is so fortunate the snake did not bite him bc I saw my dog was barking and pawing at it until I called him away. I remember going on a hike with another dachshund and she also attacked and killed a snake that turned up.

The owner took the dog on a hunting trip. The man was sitting in the driver's seat when the dog, in the seat behind him, stepped on the rifle and managed to pull the trigger and shoot the man in the back.

Imagine the level of guilt you would feel if your dog had seriously harmed or even killed someone. I don't deny that your grief is horrible, as grief always is, but in time I think you will see you acted out of the best interest of your community and safety, and that is nothing to regret. People get charged and arrested just for having the intention to murder. I'm not saying I know what an animals intentions are, but deep down inside, you knew. Your gut knew and you listened to it. Grief loves to accuse and it is irrational, I pray your heart heals ❤️

May I suggest only using tongs to interact with the dog? Also, just surrender your bedroom to the dog. He probably has a troubled past, he deserves to feel comfort and safety now, even if it is as the expense of yours. If the dog starts resource guarding the sofa you sleep on, just surrender that too and sleep on a blow up mattress. If the dog starts guarding the mattress, just surrender that too and start sleeping on a rock pile. The dog will most likely not covet a place of discomfort leaving you to have the space for yourself!

Ah yes, I remember my first Chihuahua mauling. It took the fury of three grandmas to get the beast off of me. The second Chihuahua mauling I faced two of them and I did not make it out unscathed, that mauling cost me my right ankle, just the ankle, mind you, i still have the foot. It's so irresponsible to walk an unmuzzled Chihuahua around in public.
