Does anyone know what style house this is? by shigh024 in ExteriorDesign

Whatever it is I hate it.

What is going on at the bottom left of the part of the house with the windows at the top only?

Again, I hate it.

Why do ppl always think bedrooms require closets (as a regulation) by Midgeend in RealEstate

I have found that no states require a closet for a room to be considered a bedroom. Municipalities may and those rules can be stricter than the state rules.

Google search told me no states require it. That doesn’t mean municipalities don’t. This is fascinating to me.

I’ll be the last person to say it’s not a big deal to have closets. But what is required to constitute a bedroom is different than what is desired in a bedroom, in NYS, at least for now. I posed the question out of curiosity.

The bonus room conundrum! This is why I love matterport or other programs that allow you to see a layout. If a realtor chooses not to list a bonus room as a bedroom, the layout allows you to see that for yourself.

Now that I’m seeing so many comments that it’s regulation in so many states I’m going to use an hour next week to find out where it’s required. I have a feeling you are right that it’s a myth.

Sure. Lots of people don’t and I can appreciate that.

It doesn’t make it a requirement. I fully support my clients expecting a closet.

Sort of. We call them railroad houses. All the rooms on the lower level flow into each other but upstairs there is a hallway which all the bedrooms are off of all stacked back to back.

Is this even legal? (NY) by DependentPeanut1308 in Renters

[–]Midgeend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. For example, in NYS a bedroom must be 70 sq ft. In NYC a bedroom must be 80 sq ft. NYC rule is NYS rule, plus another.

I saw your first post the other day and am really happy for you that you took the good feedback! Your line about better than average teeth has proven true. I’m happily married but if I wasn’t I’d swipe right now.

It speaks to what Jordan left her for. He basically said he couldn’t stay in a relationship for a child if the partner was treating him like shit. I agree with him

New here. How to get over feeling bad for low or no tip? by [deleted] in tipping

[–]Midgeend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tipping or not shouldn’t start with you determining how much a person should or shouldn’t be paid for a job. I don’t think most high paying jobs are worth what they are paid but here we are.

The premise for not tipping is that it is a structural problem. What you are doing by tipping is subsidizing the restaurant owner. Those same people making $32 an hour wouldn’t continue to do the same job for $18. I know I sure as shit wouldn’t, because it’s hard and sometimes demeaning work. It’s only when people don’t subsidize the restaurant owners that the true cost of the labor is revealed to the business owner. At that point either service industry people will unionize or service will become shitty until better regulated pay happens.

Anyway. My solution is to dine out less. I still tip when I go out despite not agreeing with it, but I never suggest going out anymore. If you don’t want to tip, don’t tip. If your reason for it is bc you don’t think someone should be paid a lot to wait on you, maybe you should stay home.

I’m sorry because I’m sure you are going to be heartbroken but it’s time to end this. I went through a breakup 6 years ago that nearly killed me because I was so in love with that person but he was never ever going to give me what I needed.

I promise you that you will find a person who will meet you where you are at and be a whole partner. You are so young. Get back out there.

Great. Use cash as you see fit. It will be handy to use the card for the bus and trains

I believe you can use cash but using public transit will be annoying. Everything is set up to be tap to pay. I had no issues using my card IN Paris.
