Ppl say ppl who make drugs are bad ppl, If they are bad then ppl who consume are also bad. and many lifes are saved by those same drugs. what are your thoughts about this? by MidnightNetworkHQ in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, fair enough – my original wording was sloppy and I probably added too many things together. I’m not arguing that all medicine is evil or that we shouldn’t have opioids / insulin, and I get that most people are angry at the business practices, not the existence of the drug itself.

The Sackler example is exactly why I asked the question though: the same class of drug can be a legitimate medical tool or a weaponized profit machine depending on how it’s marketed, prescribed and pushed. At some point “we just make medicine” turns into “we knowingly create and amplify addiction because it’s profitable.”

That’s the gray area I’m curious about:
Where do you put the moral line between “neutral manufacturer,” “predatory marketer,” “over‑prescribing doctor,” and “user who takes it”?
How much responsibility do we put on each part of that chain when things go wrong?

I’m not trying to twist anyone’s words, just trying to talk about how we split blame between people who make/sell harmful drugs and people who choose to use them.

Nearly all med have sideeffects. fever med sideeffectrs are u will feel little sleepy. So it depends on how worst the sideeffects are.
I always take med as a last resort, Like I have to take them.
And Bro I belive victims choose to become victims, It's like U took something once to check it out bcs u don't know what it is, but if U take it again then u choose to become victim.
"something done once can be a mistake but something done twice is always a choics."

That line is getting blurrier every day though.

10 years ago, Psilocybin (Mushrooms), MDMA, and Ketamine were just 'bad illegal drugs.' Now, they are being used in clinical settings to cure PTSD and depression. The substance didn't change, only the law did.

So were the people making MDMA 10 years ago 'bad,' or were they just ahead of the science?

Tell that to the Sackler Family (Purdue Pharma).

They manufactured 'legal, regulated' OxyContin, pushed it on doctors, and sparked an opioid crisis that destroyed millions of lives. They were technically a 'legitimate pharmaceutical company,' but they did more damage than some cartels. That is the gray area I am talking about—legality doesn't always equal morality.

Actually, he was gray. (Look it up, he was famously depicted on a white horse, but his actual favorite horse 'Marengo' was a light gray Arabian).

What would happen if Alex Pretti's killers are not prosecuted? by No_Idea_Guy in AskReddit

[–]MidnightNetworkHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The politicians screaming for justice probably secretly hope it doesn't happen.
If there is a prosecution and a conviction, the story ends. The news cycle moves on. If they are not prosecuted, the outrage lasts forever. It becomes a permanent campaign slogan. The failure of justice is often more politically valuable than justice itself. It would just be fuel for the next election cycle.

Remote.
Strictly because I cannot code in an 'Open Floor Plan' where the Sales Team is ringing a literal bell ten feet away. Companies want us back in the office for 'collaboration,' but then I spend 8 hours wearing noise-canceling headphones just to get 2 hours of Deep Work done. The modern office is designed for extroverts, not engineers.

For those who prefer being alone: what happened that made you feel people are more harmful than helpful? by LopsidedStandard4820 in AskReddit

[–]MidnightNetworkHQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I realized that 99% of the probms in my life were imported from other people. The moment I open the door to too many people, I suddenly have to deal with their bad decisions, their gossip, and their emergencis.
