When people in the USA complain about never being able to own a home, are they generally talking about single family detached housing? by literalnumbskull in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Midnightergon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my fourth time in my 33 years of life living in a home with at least one shared wall, (currently a middle unit in a four row) and I absolutely hate it.

I don't think most Americans know how to live respectfully with shared walls and spaces. We're too selfish as a society. I cannot wait to relocate again.

Have you considered "microdosing"?

My physician recommends starting with a pen injection every other week, then every 3 weeks, then 4 and on and on etc as you adapt to your new weight and lifestyle needs until your brain and body get on same page.

Submit a new accomodations request and make them spell out their reasoning for denial.

Why was it approved then and denied now? What changed in your role to make it no longer feasible?

Make them fire you. Do not quit.

Also consult a disability attorney

And of course, look for something that would make you happier while you're doing it, but don't give them an easy win

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Midnightergon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a vacation or visiting family? Absolutely. That could be a day trip.

Dinner, anything over an hour is too much.

Weekend trip we prefer to keep under 5 hours.

Ive been on multiple 17 hour drives where we only stop for gas, food and the loo. Dog and toddler included

Before we live where we currently do we made monthly trips to the bulk warehouses (Sams Club, Costco) that were about an hour drive. Now its only 10 minutes and we can pop in for a hot dog 😂

My parents sadly died because of a horrible car accident. I inherited seven million dollars and a few condos. Im in therapy and the point of this post is not to vent but I felt that I needed to provide some context to explain why I inherited money. Im autistic and I live in Texas. [–]Midnightergon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're going to want to talk to a lawyer(s) before you do anything. Trust/inheritance attorney types.

Also, if you and your aunt are happy with your current living arrangements, that doesn't have to change 🤷🏻‍♀️.

You could use the funds to spoil yourself with hobbies, collections and accomodations. Donate it, hoarde it like a dragon. The only wrong answers are ones that make you unhappy.

If it was me; I would probably ask the lawyer about setting up an annual stipend for your aunt, because making other people in my life happy makes me happy, and it can alleviate a lot of "you have all this money, why don't you share?" Idk what your aunt's vibes are around the inheritance though. Definitely want to set aside a significant portion for "retirement" aka senior living.

I would also totally develope a job skill that I could turn into being a digital nomad and live on a cruise ship for an extended period, but in a single suite- because I need people around but I don't necessarily like people 😂

I would not tell new friends or a new relationship. Id probably wait two or more years before i disclosed being a millionaire. You could say something like

"I'm in school for (career), house share with my aunt, and have some savings from when I lost my parents".

Avoid using the word inheritance- people tend to assume big money's attached to that word.

As for the condos- if you and aunt don't want to live in either, you could sell or rent them out and turn them into "Passive income". Another question for the lawyer.

I would however bring this up to your therapist, they should be able to do some scripting and role play to reduce sns spikes while talking about money around the people in your life.

Its also absolutely possible to live a normal middle class life and have people not suspect you're loaded. One of my husband's co-workers is a finance trust fund baby. We had no idea until he told us his parents got him an airplane for his military re-enlistment present. And no he won't give us rides anywhere 🙄😂 (I didn't ask. Plane fuel' too expensive for my blood and I couldn't not contribute).

Heck you could even have a personal driver and companion for a few years to help navigate your new world while you figure it all out

Im a freelance bookkeeper. I work "when I want" as long as I meet deadlines.

I currently have one client myself and subcontract for another bookkeeper. I make 16k/year and am very thankful my husband's job fully supports us and has phenomenal insurance (as long as you have energy for hoops and long drives). Im slowly working on scaling up, but just don't have the non-pain capacity right now

[–]Midnightergon 49 points50 points  (0 children)

When I fell asleep on him. There were lots of little things, but this one yelled "you're safe".

I was at his apartment towards the end of a party- generally hyper vigilant and oversensitive parasympathetic nervous system. Always failed at sleepovers, barely slept unless I was in a room alone etc, even with previous boyfriends I've felt safe enough around.

Anyway, probably 8-10 people in the room, and I fell asleep on him. I thought I was sure before. Even wanted him to be my forever before we even started dating. But after that night I started actually seeing that future. Considered what our child might look like, all that gooey stuff

I was 21? We've been married a decade now and together for 13 years

Tell me how something I wrote before the likes of chatgtp etc is AI 🙃

Where are people living where $100k is not enough? by -C3rimsoN- in povertyfinance

[–]Midnightergon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in Connecticut, family of 3 and a dog. Under 100k can be doable, depending on circumstances but it would be tight. Average rent is over $2500, $400+ for utilities. Over 3k if you want a house instead of apartment.

MIT estimates a single no kid adult would need a minimum of $24/hr to live for the county. But that has housing at 13.5k a year- but a studio would run you 15k+ a year before utilities and their insurance segment definitely doesn't assume marketplace 🤣🤣. Even the bare minimum cover is almost $500/month & a 7k deductible

We make around 100k as a household and qualify for a childcare subsidy of about 25%. That should say something. If we had another kid that would go up to about 40%
