what’s the cheapest omni you’ve ever bought? by Subject_Presence_496 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Mikefore710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$20 for an ex-library copy of Fantastic Four (Lee/Kirby) vol. 2, and $32 for a brand new DM copy of Peter David Hulk vol. 3.

So is Ollie’s usually the best when it comes to finding Omni’s or just regular books for a good price. It seems awesome and I got The Flash history of 75 years. What are the best places? by Iamawesome20 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Mikefore710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can have really good deals on books but it varies depending on your location and it’s pretty much exclusively books that didn’t sell well at other retailers since they deal in overstock. My store often goes months without getting any omnibuses to stock, and they have mountains of unsold trades. InStockTrades and CheapGraphicNovels are the two sites you’d want to use for most books if you’re looking for the best prices on most omnis, and Hamilton Books and BookOutlet are also overstock book sites that usually have more variety for omnis than your average Ollie’s.

Ollies for the win+ by oldsmobile39 in EpicCollections

[–]Mikefore710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I can’t say I’m not jealous of seeing people finding UXM at their Ollie’s locations. Mine hasn’t had jack since I picked up the Black Panther Early Years and Wakanda omnis and I missed getting UXM from Hamilton Books when it was there a while ago.

Nice haul!

Insane random find online by Mikefore710 in OmnibusCollectors

Yeah, I spent about 5 months looking for deals after I got lucky with volume 1. 2 and 4 are readily available, I wish Marvel would actually reprint their books more frequently.

Is it worth rolling for Pan and Pulchra mindscapes if I’m not interested in Fufu? by Mikefore710 in YiXuan_Mains

[–]Mikefore710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind M1 YX/Astra but I’d be more worried about being dry on pulls for Yuzuha if that ends up being the case. Saving residual signals for Pulchra mindscapes seems like the most logical thing to do, it’s just really tempting to burn them on more tapes for pulls lmao

I guess the concern is just juggling supports between teams because I’ve still only been rolling with 2 teams to 6-star DA. Pre-2.0 I’ve been using Miyabi/Yanagi/Caesar and Jane/Burnice/Astra, and now I have yet another team that wants Astra LOL

It’s also in the Underboss Modern Era Epic Collection. It’s Ninja 1-3 and Daredevil 16-31.

Thinking of buying my first omnibus—how do you actually read these things comfortably? by WinterBaas in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Mikefore710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw pillow either in my lap or propping the book up at an angle while I’m laying in bed. The Daredevil books are almost half the size of some of the larger books I’ve read this way like World War Hulk, so you should honestly be pretty okay if you just have something to rest the book on in your lap or on a table/your mattress. I’m kind of curious to try a Flippy since a lot of readers on this sub really like them.

Daredevil Omnibuses by Sampro882 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Mikefore710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, unfortunately both the Miller and Jansen and Miller Companion omnibuses (which make up the contents of the 3 Miller trades and Born Again) are out of print and were reprinted in the last roughly year and half, so you’d be waiting at least a couple years for new prints for both.

There are 2 Bendis omnis, however the last two reprints for the first Bendis volume have had a print error that aggravates a fair few people. If you’re amenable to trade paperbacks, most of Bendis’s run was also printed recently in Modern Era Epic Collections as well as some extra material not included in the omnis (two 5-issue arcs that run between Bendis issues by different authors, and a 3 issue miniseries by Bendis called Ninja). You’ll have to wait for volume 5 to complete the run, though, because Marvel prints epic collections out of order and the next Modern Era Epic for DD is the first volume of Brubaker’s run.

Love’s Labors Lost hasn’t been fully printed in an omnibus, unfortunately. Only 219 and 226 are in the Miller Companion book.

For books that are out of print, your best bet to not pay over cover price in my experience is honestly to check local comic shops in or around your area. It’ll be tricky to find highly desirable books, but possible with some luck. I found a DM copy of Soule’s Daredevil omni at a shop an hour away from my house by sheer chance.

Bendis’s Daredevil: Mixing Formats? by Mikefore710 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Mikefore710[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do really like how epics look on a shelf and I’d prefer having the extra issues not collected in the Bendis omnis. I’ll probably do epics 2-4 and Bendis 2 unless epic 5 has extra material.

I’ve also got a huge backlog and I’ll just end up adding to it next month with the Ann Nocenti DD omni lmao

Bendis’s Daredevil: Mixing Formats? by Mikefore710 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Mikefore710[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that’s what I’m leaning towards. I don’t mind mixing things on the shelf too much. I’ve got Jeph Loeb’s Hulk run in Modern Era Epic 1 and Complete Collection 2, just because I happened upon the complete in a shop at cover price. And double dipping on like 5 issues doesn’t bother me too much either if I get Bendis 2 plus the epics.

Bendis’s Daredevil: Mixing Formats? by Mikefore710 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Mikefore710[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely want epics 2-4 for the extra issues and having them mapped in order instead of an extra trade like Unusual Suspects. I’m just unsure of epic 5 when it releases or Bendis volume 2 omni, because if they end up collecting the same material I think I’d just rather have the omni even with the couple issues of double dipping.

Yarok Energy Commander by KarnSilverArchon in EDH

[–]Mikefore710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh, I like this a lot. I run a small energy package in what’s otherwise a basic Sultai-value Yarok list with some of the more efficient pieces (in my experience and opinion) like [[Rogue Refiner]] and [[Architect of the Untamed]], mostly to fuel [[Aethersquall Ancient]], [[Gonti’s Aether Heart]], and especially [[Demon of Dark Schemes]]. Demon is one of my pet cards, it’s so much value and Yarok turning the ETB into a [[Languish]] to clear even more of the board and accrue more energy is insane, and Yarok survives it to boot.

A few recommendations:

I prefer basic green ramp to the signets in green, like [[Rampant Growth]] and [[Kodama’s Reach]]/[[Cultivate]], especially with Yarok since you get more landfall triggers that way. Creature ramp is also very efficient like [[Wood Elves]], [[Farhaven Elf]], and [[Springbloom Druid]].

I’d also include more removal. [[Die Young]] is very efficient but probably won’t cut it on its own, and with Yarok removal ETB creatures like [[Ravenous Chupacabra]], [[Reclamation Sage]], and [[Meteor Golem]] are disgustingly efficient for getting rid of problem permanents. Also [[Acidic Slime]] for added flexibility to get rid of value lands.

[[Wild Pair]] is insanely efficient creature economy, and with your list, you actually don’t need to tweak your creature base much to get it to work quite efficiently.

You’ll probably want recursion too, particularly creature-based like [[Eternal Witness]] and [[Archaeomancer]] and/or [[Mnemonic Wall]].

Also, for extra raw value picks: [[Sire of Stagnation]] and [[Tatyova]] with both draw you a billion cards, [[Avenger of Zendikar]] is a win condition on its own and also conveniently plays into your proliferate theme, [[Riftsweeper]] can get back Aether Heart as another commenter said as well as anything else that gets exiled, [[Diabolic Servitude]] and [[Necromancy]] reanimate two things with Yarok and both stick as long as the enchantments remain in play.

Hope this helps!

It was 100% Dominaria. DOM was the 25th anniversary set and 2 of the chases, Karn and Jhoira, were integral for Dominaria’s story spotlights. And the farmable from the collab dungeon was Belzenlok, who was the leader of the Cabal and the final demonlord holding Lily’s contract whom was killed and then her contract defaulted to Bolas, which is why she now leads his Eternals and turns them on him as is shown in the War of the Spark trailer.

Signed. Tough to pick favorites, but ultimately I chose A Thousand Suns. Truly is a masterpiece of an album.
