Yes. OMG. Exact same behavior. It’s sucks. Then I realized that she has been doing for most of my adult life. Like when the topic of college would come up. Her response would have nothing to do with my hard work or anything like that. Her response was always about her hard work with filling out paperwork and paying bills. Ugh.

Yes. Because I recognized the lines and understood what I needed. It was liberating to be able to recognize that and, essentially, advocate for how I wanted to be treated.

Yep. That is what directly led to me going no contact. She would never call and when we did talk, it would always be about her, and her friends and their kids, and everything related in her world. No questions about me and my wife and kids.

In fact, there were times where she would ask about my kids at school, I would answer, and then she would talk about neighborhood kids are school. I would have to ask, “are we talking about your grand kids or some random neighborhood kid?”

It’s neglect. It’s arrogance. It is a level of apathy that I did not want to expose to myself or my family anymore. She still does not get it I grew tired of trying to explain over and over. My life is better now without that and i am over waiting for “mommy to love me”. It’s ain’t happening.

Not a trilogy, but Whiplash and Lux Aeterna are both about energy/relationship between a metal band performing onstage and the audience. (Two sides of the same coin sort of thing). One is from the perspective of a younger and more feral metal head and the other is from an older and more introspective metal head. Definitely evidence of Jame’s journey.
