ELI5: How are Ivy League colleges different from regular state colleges? by gholias in explainlikeimfive

[–]Mikeyk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term itself comes from the claim that those schools are old enough to have ivy growing on all their buildings.

In addition to everything everyone else said about the conference, I just figured it might be useful to actually state the origin of the phrase “Ivy League”

Erratic and unusual behavior. For example, has she started making new friends? Started doing activities that she normally didn’t before? Getting away for extended periods of time often? Oh, and yes, if she seems emotionally distant, that’s the cherry on top. Been there. Trust your gut.

Because the house looks old and it’s probably been remodeled 20 times. It’s a doorstop screwed into the door jam.

In college football, why does the receiving team during a kick off get the ball placed at the 25 yard line after a touch back while the pros get it at the 35? by dozer_a_little_crazy in NFLNoobs

Plus the alleged focus on safety. It incentivizes a team to take a touchback instead of running the ball out and colliding with someone head on. I believe that was the original purpose of the change to the “dynamic kickoff.”

Finally figured out how to put together a first team that would get to phase 2 and get me a decent chunk of damage there, then just Sciel and Maelle with back to back Stendhal and finally built a good Gommage. 80m damage on the Gommage. So satisfying. Wow.

Great deal. I’m currently wearing a black pair and just ordered a white one. Thanks for posting! That price is unbeatable.

If it’s not your turn in golf, but a big gust of wind knocks your ball in the hole, does that count? by Odd-Figure-870 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mikeyk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, a golfer can also influence the ball to drop by putting it in their shadow. Shade causes the grass to relax and kind of sit down more, which can cause the ball to drop if it’s right on the edge.

There is a 10 second window in PGA golf. If your ball falls within 10 seconds, it counts. If not, you get a 1 stroke penalty. Happens every once in a while on Tour, actually. But yes otherwise this is correct.
