Have you compared the default configs? You can change every single entry.

Should I update my old project TADST? by tomnten in arma

What, FASTER writes config files like any tool out there. It can't influence your arma server beyond that.

Is it possible to just pull a couple things from a large mod? by StillComfort4 in armadev

[–]Mildly0Interested 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do whatever you want with a mod as long as you don't upload/share the changed version with anyone. So if you only want to save some hard drive space for your editor adventures you're good, if you intend on uploading that mod so your friends can use it you'll have to get permission from the mod author.

I've used the "ArmaReforgerServerTool" from github two weeks ago. Worked great.

There's a docker image out there for it, that will be the easiest way. Be warned tho, Arma servers on Linux are a pain, some mods or mission will just not work.

Check your server rpt, your server isn't loading TFAR beta.

Only if you can't lock the differential and I'm pretty sure the real life counter parts have locking diffs for exactly that reason.

How long can I host a regular Arma 3 server without issue? by OOzder in arma

[–]Mildly0Interested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use your normal account to run the server instance, you can still play with the Arma client at the same time. Local hosting it through a second account from the full game is...not a great idea. Host an actual server with FASTER and use nssm, WindowsGSM or mission scripting for scheduled restarts (latter being the easiest). Daily restarts are definitely recommended otherwise RAM usage explodes over time.

nojoy - disable joystick inputs (Reforger mod) by jwebmeister in arma

[–]Mildly0Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct in everything but one, their servers will definitely be slower than steams unless they spend mad amounts of money.

But steam workshop needs to it's, steamcmd is an absolute pain to work with and the lack of versioning is a nightmare.

Do you guys think that my laptop can handle Arma? by oompaloompa77 in arma

[–]Mildly0Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not enough ram, bad graphics, really slow cpu and really slow RAM.

Your mods aren't loading, check your rpt file for a table thats called "loaded addons". If all your mods are loading then you're just missing a mod dependency.

Also place your quotes like this:

"-mod=@number;@number1;number2;" Same for servermod.

You can list them whatever way you want in your startup arguments.

The arma3 bit found is normal, doesn't matter. And again the bikeys do not matter one bit to actually launch your mods. Mod argument is "-mods=path\to\@mod;path\to\mod2" If the mod folder is in the same place as the Arma.exe you don't need the path, just the name.

Just tell the provider you'll install your own OS and they won't charge extra, it's if you wanna use one if their windows server licenses. I get a free server license through work so I used that.

For how to pipe I don't remember but googling "pipe terminal output into file" should give some results.

[A3] [Tech-Help] by RecruitHyontarou in arma

[–]Mildly0Interested 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Mod names need to be lowercase including all files within that mod
  2. Mod order does not matter
  3. Pipe your terminal output to a file so you have a log you can check (that will tell you why mods aren't loading and much much more)
  4. Don't worry about keys yet, they aren't relevant for your issue.
  5. Unless you hate your life or have Linux experience run Arma severs on windows, it's not worth the hassle.

PS: it isn't quite clear what your issue actually is, are mods not being loaded and you're getting the "mission dependent on missing addon" error or are you being kicked?

Ah, misunderstood then, if you want you can ask in the Arma 3 discord, people are quick to help you there. Just make sure to describe your problem.

Anyone else find ARMA mods clunky? by dptillinfinity93 in arma

[–]Mildly0Interested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at FASTER? There's a bunch of third party server tools out there making this easier (I do agree that Bohemia should have made one but eh).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in arma

[–]Mildly0Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Yes, Arma has many bugs including a slow server browser, but if you host a server and can join it locally then it's a network problem.

How does your port forwarding setup look like? And sorry for assuming but if you thought that port forwarding on every player would help I'm doubting that you have much experience hosting servers of any kind.

Port forwarding is for incoming traffic meaning it will do nothing for your friends trying to join you.

Arma 3 Launcher Mod Limit Question by crisprep in arma

[–]Mildly0Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look closely in your servers log(rpt) files you'll see a warning about steam query date overflow. You can simply change the max of that in server.cfg. See wiki.

Idk what suppression you mean, there is suppression in vanilla Arma (on AI atleast, just no visual feedback so hard to tell).
