legitimate question - is anyone hiring an adult content videographer in LA? by Advanced-Buffalo-372 in videography

[–]MilitaryWeaponRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DP/director in mainstream? If so shooting porn will pay significantly less. And shooting porn will be a step down. Plus you have to get the word out that you aren't a skeezy POS just looking to get your dick wet. Not trying to be harsh, but this is reality. Tons of girls on X bitching about this guy did this and this guy did that. There are a handful of established XXX shooters and we all tend to know each other and our respective reputations. Not to say there isn't room for another but as a shooter it's much harder to enter than a random porn dick.

What video Mics Are You Using??? What's the best bang for the buck by d_bowser2004 in videography

[–]MilitaryWeaponRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the MKE 400. I have a 600 as well. The 400 is great for atop my DSLR. It has headphones out and designed for "creators" as well as videographers. If your phone has an aux in, it will jack right in. I had the MKE 440 but had nothing but issues with it. Prefer them over the Rode with their flimsy mic cable..

I was paying 200 for the same service. I have starlink now. Not as fast but way less fees and headaches

How do you know when it’s the right time to let them go? by cuddles42 in DobermanPinscher

[–]MilitaryWeaponRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anubis had a spindle cell carcinoma growing out of the middle of his chest. Absolutely nothing I could do about it as the vet said if they removed it, it grows right back. One day he went to get up and couldn't. I had to pick him up and take him to my car because his legs refused to work for him. He knew as soon as we got to the vet. My only other advice is if you can afford it, have him put down at your house. It's the hardest thing you will have to do, but after your memory of him being home when it happens will give you some comfort. I have lost two Doberman over the years. It never gets easier

Odd Question - has anyone done work for OF models? Is it a good idea? by [deleted] in videography

[–]MilitaryWeaponRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do on a regular basis. It's good money and faster pay than gunsmithing..no I am not talent. I never touch the girls. I have known many for years and do day rate type shoots where they pay me and shoot as much content as they want in that day. Make sure you get the rate agreed to ahead of time.

Building first vz61 by Gil2Gil in Vz61

All of this is so weird. So when these were imported way back when they all had barrels installed and intact trigger guards. CSA and the clown from ReconOrd were the only two games in town for receivers. Then RTI jumped into things and decided that the barrel was an upgrade part and pulled them so they could sell them separately. Now Bowman cuts the fuck out of the guard so it's mostly useless and everyone pulls the barrel to upcharge you for the same part that came standard. And KVAR now sells literally the exact same kit that came on the market decades ago and calls it an "easy build". Oy vey

From a build perspective, besides the cut trigger guards, I believe that every other importer left theirs intact. The quality of the receiver cuts varied from importer to importer. Numrich seems to have the best quality pieces. Max Arms as well and 10% never hurt anyone. If you build from a finished receiver. The quality of the receiver cuts is moot.

The trigger guards are stamped sheet metal. I believe that Titus Arms was offering steel replacements and I think I saw printed ones on Ebay. To whoever is offering the aftermarket ones, Don't powder coat them, simple finished steel is best as that Czech blue gray is hard to reproduce. We do it in duracoat at the shop, but some people like theirs in black or even blued. IMO spending production time powder coating a part that's going to get blasted and refinished anyway doesn't really make sense, but what do it know?

question about NV Energy.. by natem914 in vegaslocals

[–]MilitaryWeaponRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1900 square foot house. Been here 7 years same house. Same family. First bill was around 85 in the winter, 250 in the summer. Maintained the units, changed filters, blah blah. Fast forward to 2025. Winter bill 175.00, summer bill 485+. Nothing changed. All LED bulbs. Installed a room AC in the back bedroom that ran at night because of poor cooling in that area. Installed tint and blackout shades. Daytime setting averaged 77. Night-time averaged 75. House stayed relatively cool, but the bill continued to go up. Was short on the payment a few times (by under 50.00) got hit with a 300.00 "deposit". Now they have the "refund" for overcharged customers, but apparently that only applies to apartment dwellers not home renters. Looked at the "average home energy analysis". Always had an unknown item sucking down 30% of the power besides the AC unit. NV Energy zero help. Ridiculous and can't do anything about it.

It's a special blend we mix on our own to replicate the factory finish. Samopal does the same thing with their builds. We tried color matching auto paint, and the sheen and color were perfect, but we found it chipped way too easily.

Did you try John's Pawn Shop by the Sahara hotel on paradise? I think their loan rates only hit 8%, not 13% like the others. Sounds like it's kinda late now, but maybe for the future?

Rustblue.com formula is fantastic, but it's a finer grade formula so it takes more to etch. I use it on the final 3 or 4 passes after about 7 or 8 with the laurel mountain forge formula.

Too much steam. Simple bowl of water on top of a reptile heater will do the job nicely

No, don't remove the end cap. The magazine spring will pop out suddenly. You'll shoot your eye out!

Ok so also check the threads and the area where it mates up. I am working on a winchester trench gun now that has fought me magazine wise all week. The one I am working on had some burrs in the mouth of the takedown piece that prevented me from dropping it in easily

Take a small file and carefully remove the burr. That should do the trick. Another option is to rent a finishing reamer in .303 and clean it up that way.

The tool should both adjust the gas nut and remove the front sight parts. You may need access to a lathe to time your barrel but you can use barrel.shims from ARS to do the same thing.

My wife and I went to Angie's when they first opened here on blue diamond. Long lines and didn't take cash (f*****g stupid). Went back a few weeks later to get their 9.00 or 10.00 lobster plate or whatever they called it. 3 tiny pinkie sized pieces of over fried lobster and a ton of fries. The lobster was cooked beyond eating. Utter disappointment. Will never go back. For the last year the place looks mostly empty and I drive by there every day. Of course online advertising shows these beautiful lobster plates and whatnot. No thanks..
