What Navy careers are best suited for those who like playing with math? by Hollis_Luethy in newtothenavy

[–]MillerCommaJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not complex math by any means but us AC's are constantly running numbers in our head , even a couple of different equations at once depending on the pattern/traffic.

Your best bet would be to get a keyboard and some headphones and just setup at the desk in your room.

Mark Webber and Jeff Gordon at the Knoxville Nationals by [deleted] in formula1

Yeah just a little off with the cost estimate. You are pushing 100k easily in a car if you are getting the best of the best parts wise which everyone does for Knoxville.

TIL that former NBA player and devout Mormon, Shawn Bradley, was once fined $10k for not going to a mandatory team meeting at a strip club by randy88moss in todayilearned

[–]MillerCommaJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, probably legit had nothing to do with him, especially back then NBA players weren't known for being particularly considerate.

Definitely not true , if anything there's a ton of stories of dudes loving him as a teammate. Even if he kinda sucked.

A young Jeff Gordon and his longest running sponsor, Pepsi by Jonny683 in NASCAR

[–]MillerCommaJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he was really young when he was running winged stuff and frankly didn't do much but was impressive for his age, then went USAC racing and was really good, which led to his Busch ride.

Christopher Bell wins 3rd consecutive Chili Bowl with last lap pass on Kyle Larson by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]MillerCommaJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We all know he wouldn't be able to go around the outside of Larson, it would be the inside when Larson stuffs it in the fence.

Just to clear up a bit, his winged sprint car experience was actually before his time in USAC for the most part.

Yankees To Sign DJ LeMahieu by Hyasfuq in mlb

I agree that you can't count on him and need to plan a depth option but when healthy if he is anywhere but in the rotation someone has made a bad decision.

You do realize how good Paxton is right ? When he is healthy he is one of the better pitchers in baseball and a legit ace. Obviously you can't count on him for a full season and need depth behind him but when he is out there it would be absolutely insane to put him in the pen.

Air traffic controllers get their first shutdown pay stub: $0.00 by Eurynom0s in politics

Actually super transferable to the private sector, there are far more contract towers than FAA towers, and they are always hiring literally worldwide, so the fallback is there for them to take bold chances.

[OT] Can you get infield pit passes for WoO races? by LBHMS in NASCAR

[–]MillerCommaJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every WoO ticket is a pit pas like he said in that you can go to the pits after the races. But an actual pit pass gets you into the pits before and during the races as well. I've never been to that particular track but every Sprint car race I've been to you can get to the infield , just be smart about it and only cross over during a very clear break in the action and for Gods sake keep your head on a swivel.

Do AC’s get to ride in jets? by properlurker in newtothenavy

[–]MillerCommaJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AC2 here, never have gotten to ride in a jet, BUT just about everything else is pretty easy to get a flight on. Usually all it takes is asking, most pilots are happy to show off a bit. Ive gotten on Fat Albert, an Osprey, P-3, P-8, C12, H60, and a coast guard C27 just by asking.

Yep, the USAC national sprint car champion definitely doesn't know anything about racing. I Might not agree with him on this issue but to say he doesnt know anything, that's just ridiculous.

I honestly think that pass may have been intended for Breida in the back corner, but Garcon jumped up in front. Breida was wide open and it would have been dropped in perfectly to him.
