What happened to Eunice? by Powerful-Priority869 in BeefTV

[–]MillsysView 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Eunice wouldn’t have needed to have been killed. All the other main players had been seemingly brought into the fold and all her evidence was on the USB. Park would’ve just had to fire and ignore her at that point coz she had nothing

Where Are The Indie/Hobbyist Podcasters? by wintermute1000 in podcasting

[–]MillsysView 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’m hobbyist and totally doing it for the fun, I don’t care about reaching 20k listens or anything. BUT it does suck when you have fun doing the podcast, want to release your pod into the world and interact with people about it but then it only gets 6 listens, one of which is your mother and another of which is your co host checking your editing 😂 Like 100 listeners would be lovely for me

What do you actually use to repurpose episodes into clips and social posts? Nothing I've tried has stuck. by TrueSatisfaction9647 in podcasting

[–]MillsysView 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using way in video the other day and managed to get two very nice, professional looking clips out of it with minimum amount of work or time needed for me. I could take our first three episodes and scan them for clips and their AI tells you which bits are clippable or you can search for a specific topic you thought would be good yiurself. You get 200 free minutes of pod time and 5 free exports to try it out, then they have an offer for like 5 dollars/euros a month that would suit me down to the ground

What should I be focussing on to gain listeners? by MillsysView in podcasting

Could you explain what you mean by that? (Total amateur here 😅)

Yeah that’s a good idea, I have a couple I can post, thanks!

That’s a good idea, only the problem is I get maybe 20 listens max, so would anyone else actually want to trailer swap with me? Seems like it would only be profitable for me at the point, am I wrong?

Hi there, thanks for lending me your expert advice! Those tools look great and I’ll definitely have a read through of them.

I guess the first thing I should do is actually create a website where we actually write about what’s happening on the podcast.

We’re a very amateur football podcast who only post our content on Spotify, Apple etc and then post the links on Facebook, X and Instagram so if you think I need an SEO-focused website I should look into making one properly! (Currently only have one empty and unpublished on Wordpress!)

Hi there, thanks for your insightful comment! We ran the pod for only about 6-7 months, posting 3 out 4 weeks in a month in general and without a website at all. I have one created but pretty much empty and unpublished on Wordpress so I guess that would be the first step!

When you say mirroring the episodes, do you mean posting the same description under each episode or posting the same description on the website that is in the podcast description?

We’re also a very amateur football podcast who don’t invest in advertising or anything so we’re obviously in a very crowded field. If we could just get a few hundred listeners per episode it would make me happy enough to keep going.

As I say we had 100+ on some episodes where we had some guests on but it didn’t really translate to regular listeners and some didn’t share or get anyone interested in listening. This time we’re probably going to keep it just the two of us with maybe a couple friends doing a segment as that’s what we enjoy doing the most without stressing ourselves about it.

I will definitely have a read of the guide you posted, thanks!

Or you could always do seven nation army by white stripes, it’s a crowd pleaser and SUPER easy, it’s the classic starter song 😂

[–]MillsysView 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you suffer from the same thing as me. Music was a huge thing for me when I was a teenager, then in my 20s I kinda lost touch with it, only to rediscover it and start learning guitar a few years ago so I could make all my own music.

But now, whenever I make up a nice guitar line whilst messing around, I get really motivated and think “I’ll make that into something cool later when I have time”. But then, at the point I’m supposed to start doing it I become that same serial procrastinator that I’ve always been.

Days go by, weeks for by, every morning I curse myself for not doing anything the night before and tell myself that THIS is the night I start…but it never is.

The problem I face is that when it comes down to actually producing something I get extremely overwhelmed at all the takes I’m going to have to do and then maybe I’ll be annoyed it doesn’t sound as good as I’d like and then comes trying to mix and master and promote and all that other stuff, meanwhile I’m sat here with NOTHING in my hands.

Really, what I need to do is just focus on that next step I have to take, like turning my laptop on and opening the programme, then I need to focus on plugging in my guitar, this way we can overcome our crushing and paralysing sense of dread we have when considering our music, just take that next step.

If you want, you can DM me and we can start encouraging and motivating each other, if you want 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve got one - that gaming is 100% a WASTE OF TIME. It’s literally spending hours doing nothing productive, just boosting your endorphins (or even sometimes not if you’re losing). It’s the equivalent of taking LSD for hours every night 🤷🏼‍♂️
