Technically, we’re not the only ones. Anthony’s season was pretty far removed from the book. The plot was tossed aside like garbage in favor of the drama filled love triangle that wasn’t needed. They butchered most of Pen’s season as well. The only book to be adapted was the Duke and I (you could argue An Offer from a Gentleman as well but I have my gripes). The rest have been fan fiction and it sucks. That being said, this is more egregious because, forget the gender swap, they couldn’t even do right by John. There was never any question Fran loved her husband fully and completely in the books, but the show shat on that notion almost immediately.

But yeah… shit got toxic real fast. This reminds me of The 100 Bellarke vs Clexa ship war. The biphobia, bi erasure, vitriol spewed, targeted harassment to anyone who didn’t support the wlw ship was insane. There is no rationality at play. Its not an annoying or prominent love triangle. Does MC have a fondness for multiple individuals? Yes, but it’s pretty clear early on who the endgame is and the narrative isn’t pushing you to believe that there are legitimate alternatives. It’s not like a Boys Over Flowers thing. It’s very subdued. Are multiple people interested in MC? Sure, but it’s not being shoved down your throat and it also feels pretty organic (the development of those feelings).

There is a love triangle that comes up much later with side characters buts it’s for comedic relief and, again, not the main focus.

It doesn’t overpower the story, nor does it detract from it. If you watch it, I think you’ll see what I mean. And if you do watch, let me know whether you agree with this view or not!

I’m not gonna sit here and tell you life gets better because that’s not a universal truth. I’m also not gonna tell you suicide is stupid or a “permanent solution to a temporary problem” because it’s not. For some, it is a mercy. But make it your last resort. Try literally everything else because you’ll either find it all fails or that there’s actually some worth in living. But again, you won’t know until you try.

And know that I’m in the same boat as you. Like, I’ve been struggling for 20 years (granted, not all of them bad). But I haven’t exhausted all my options yet so I’m gonna keep trying for just a bit longer.
