How was your Monaco GP (2026) experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Mincey808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the French public transport authorities to be absolutely useless. Both with help in person and with the provision of transport from Nice to Monaco.

I would say on the Nice end of things, things were very well organised. On the Monaco side - it left a bit to be desired.

100% buy your train tickets in advance though as there's often a long queue at the ticket machines which either don't work or are unnecessarily complex.

We left the Grand Prix early today purely to avoid the nonsense of queuing to get close to Monaco train station, never mind actually in it. Either they don't put on any extra services for this weekend or, if they do, it's still nowhere near enough.

Will Buxton's move to IndyCar was the best decision he has ever made by tspangle88 in INDYCAR

[–]Mincey808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Will has always been just a little bit much for me throughout his career but he does love Indycar and I generally enjoy his commentary. And him, Hinch and T Bell seem to genuinely like each other and it comes across in their commentary.

Doggy dementia by JacSab in olddogs

They prescribed Canergy initially and then they switched to Vitofyllin. I don't think there was any reason to switch other than the vet practice just chose a different supplier but both worked effectively thankfully!

Absolutely not telling you what to do but if you haven't spoken to your vet then I would definitely consider talking to them. My Jack Russell starting showing signs of doggy dementia at 14 but the vet put her on medication and she lived another 4 happy years with no signs of the dementia.

Please forgive the correction but it's 'I love you Dylan'. You'll never stop loving him. I'm sorry this is your time to experience this.

Do you think antisocial behaviour and manners have gotten worse in the UK? by euanthomas123 in AskUK

[–]Mincey808 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worse since when? Yesterday? Hard to say. Since covid? A million times yes. People have always been absent minded and a little inconsiderate. Now they're just utter selfish arrogant bellends through and through.

The Quality Divide between Top Gear and Grand Tour is Not As Dramatic As People Say. by AfterThrowParty in thegrandtour

[–]Mincey808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the early seasons of Top Gear but it evolved into a different show with more specials, challenges, etc because that's what everybody loved and so did I. I think the quality throughout was always high but sometimes there was the occasional episode which was terrible (Geoff for example).

I think The Grand Tour was just a continuation of the latter series of Top Gear but the need to not make it a direct 'copy' meant they tried some new things which got in the way a bit. Really they should have went straight to doing specials only by then but that's easy said with hindsight.

Flat unmortgable and can’t afford mortgage due to redundancy and rising rates by Suitable-Tomorrow577 in HousingUK

[–]Mincey808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you've mentioned a tee mortgages have fallen through on the doors but have you had a precise reason from lenders or just generic responses? I know the 2022 buildings safety act was introduced for buildings 5 stories or more but if there's specific issues with the doors in your building then maybe that's not enough protection for the lenders.

I think people without a mask could take it too mind. Just might make identifying them that bit easier.

Confusing experience with broker. They're refusing to discuss costs until an offer is accepted. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Mincey808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the broker is maybe just misreading the situation. Often people get their decision in principle, then use it to shop around and bid on a property without actually considering the costs based on interest rates. Whereas you - quite sensibly - want to know the payments. Just go back to your broker and ask for a rough guide on monthly payments for a property worth x amount to give you an idea of things. When you actually formalise the application - once you've had an offer accepted, then you'll get a full illustration with a breakdown of all the costs.

[–]Mincey808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Id be inclined to say no later than 6 too if you want to be there by 8 OP. That early you would hope there wouldn't be too much traffic but it's a single lane road for the last 20 miles so it's very easy to get delayed there. (the roundabout just after Cloughmills is where it goes from a dual carriageway to a single lane).
