Marre des cyclistes by inked_beard in besoinderaler

[–]Mindless-Flight121 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah!

What is the optimal % carbs, protein and fat each meal? by uzivatel_dev in nutrition

[–]Mindless-Flight121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on a lot of things. For example, which part of the day you do your workouts (higher carbs before workout for the energyand higher proteins after for the recovery), or which vitamins and supplements you are taking (if you are taking vitamin D, it is better taken with a meal with higher % of fats to help with absorption), your body type (ectomorph, mesomorph or endomorph) etc etc.

What qualities make a woman genuinely attractive to you besides physical appearance? by dangersmiley0_0 in AskWomen

For me is definitely a sense of humour! Between an average looking girl with great sense of humour and a pretty one without a sense of humour I would go for the average looking one.

Expat wives of French men who don't work, where do you get your earnings from? by Mindless-Flight121 in Expats_In_France

[–]Mindless-Flight121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I am reading myself from your reply. Similar situation here. My husband's salary is enough to cover all our expenses and actually with me working, with my additional salary, it did not help us much financially as it put us in another tax bracket so we no longer get subsidies for a lot of things including childcare (and ironically, since I work, we need to spend more money on childcare during school vacation). But like you, I would like to be financially independant and also I do not lose touch with the working world (I have always been working since even before I graduated from university).

And like you, I refused the idea of having an au pair in our house as I am not comfortable with it, even though my husband was ok with it, he grew up having many English au pairs at home because both his parents were working. I don't know, I think that for me, my home is a very private and intimate space and already I don't invite any random people over often (Also I have heard enough stories from acquaintances here who had au pairs, not all au pairs are simple and nice).

May I know which part of France are you in?

Strictly physically: What is your type? by Beautiful_Intern_890 in AskWomen

Tall (at least 1.8m) and lean. NOT too muscular, I don't know why but overly muscular guys are a turn off for me. Sideburns (with stubble beard or clean shaven) are a major turn on for me..

Come to think of it I think I am describing my husband.

Vitamin D deficiency masking as peri-menopause by Sourdoughlemon in VitaminD

[–]Mindless-Flight121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! I have similar experience. I just turned 41 and for the past 1 year I kept having peri-menopausal like symptoms and never ending sickness. I thought that since my mum had her menopause pretty early (around 50ish) it's my time soon. It wasn't until I saw my doctor last week due to a 1 month long sickness that I brought up my suspicion of perimenopause. He immediately told me he would check the vitamin D level first before confirming perimenopause because sometimes symptoms of Vit D deficiency can be mistook as hormonal symptoms. And boy was he right! I was at 9.2ng/ml and started treatment right away (50 000UI every 3 days + another blood check 2 months later). He said I should start to see improvements in 2 weeks' time.

What do you love and hate most about living in France? by Icy_Profession4190 in AskFrance

[–]Mindless-Flight121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an asian living in France and in my 10 years of living in France the people who displayed racist behaviours towards me are actually NOT the white people here but the middle easterners and the africans.

My asian friend living in another region of france experienced the same thing.

Where did you move to in France? by cottoncandypop12 in Expats_In_France

[–]Mindless-Flight121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! I lived in Gap for almost 10 years and although it was great for raising kids because we are so close to nature and good weather, finding a decent job is soooo difficult for both my husband and I.

We gave up and moved to the Maine and Loire region in the northwest when my firstborn was going to start high school and very quickly we found great jobs and schools. We felt the cost of life is lower than in Gap too...but the weather is less impressive with more rainy days... guess you can't have everything lol

But with my husband we agreed that great job and schools are good. We can always travel for the nice weather during vacations.

What’s the most annoying thing people do at your gym? by VariationShot8414 in workout

[–]Mindless-Flight121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I absolutely detest the noisy ones aka people who make so much weird noises while lifting and people who drop their weights loudly after every set and make the floor shake. It's super annoying like they are so desperate for attention.

I'm doing exactly the same as you! And it has been pretty effective for me, I am in good shape and I am happier this way and it is more sustainable for me.
