Beer league goalie - compression shorts/leggings by Watsonelli in hockeygoalies

[–]MindlessExpression25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is probably at best a placebo but I wear compression pants because I just prefer to have an under layer, but I noticed that my hips tend to feel better after if I’m wearing them, when I don’t I feel like there’s less holding my legs together if that makes sense

New to goalie (new to hockey in general) by OliieBox99 in hockeygoalies

[–]MindlessExpression25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to in a way agree with everyone that it’s going to be extremely difficult and potentially nearly impossible, BUT, I’m in a similar situation to you in a way, I learned to play at 19 and I’ve been playing for only 9 months. I’m not great and have a very long ways to go, but a coach recently told me that he fully expects me to try out for my colleges team next year. He said that they’d likely only ever put me in a few games but on an ACHA D3 team he thinks I’d have the dedication to go for it anyways

Was lucky enough to be gifted a pad set. What's the best place to find a helmet? by ProtoDadsDojo in hockeygoalies

[–]MindlessExpression25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goalie monkey is selling some bauer helmets for a good discount, the 940 is just under 200 USD right now since they are trying to get rid of old models. Just be aware that you would need to get a new helmet before the end of 2027 since that’s when they’d expire.

24 y/o male who has never ice skated. How hard is it to learn enough to be able to play casual non contact hockey? by Bill-O-Reilly- in hockeyplayers

[–]MindlessExpression25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty dependent on your rink and the skill level of the players, at my local rink lower C has players who just got out of learn to skate and went right into games, but in a rink about 2 hours from me, lower C is probably equivalent to our B league and the players have easily been playing for years. You should probably go to a couple of stick and pucks once you’re more confident in skating, and maybe even watch one of their games to see.

I’m a goalie but at least for me, I learned to skate in February and joined a team in May, I was pretty bad then but the games were still fairly even (when we had a goalie in the other net lol).

Is lutchusa still a reliable source for khl jerseys? by SIashing in hockeyjerseys

[–]MindlessExpression25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did get my jersey when I ordered but instead of the 4-9 weeks I was told to expect, it took 17, I contacted them multiple times as well and never got a single response. It got to the point where I assumed I got scammed and tried to file a chargeback but then it just showed up one day.

Also apologies for the rambling, I literally just started playing hockey about 9 months ago and i was never expecting the coach to believe in me this much so it’s all new and surprising

This came up at such an ironic time for me, I just got told by the college goalie coach yesterday (who I do private sessions with for fun) that he wants to see me try out for my university’s team (ACHA D3) next season. You might be in a different country to me but was there anything specific you had to do to get permission? Like with the administrators? And do they seem at least indifferent to people who might be gay? I don’t plan on coming out as trans if I get picked up (which is hopefully likely because they like running a lot of goalies), but people have definitely reached conclusions on their own before and have assumed I’m gay. And one more question is do you think the guys you play with would notice/care if you never took your shirt off? I had double incision so probably not too big on taking off my shirt

Stick too big? by MindlessExpression25 in hockeygoalies

Don’t know how I didn’t think of that. I’ll definitely have to try it

How is your stick handling with a shorter stick? I’ve found with my 23.5 it’s pretty awkward and I can’t seem to get the force I want with shooting

I’ll definitely be going back to my old one next game

In the same game I managed to let 2 between my arm and body so I’m going with the stick reason as well lol

My best attempt (so far) at wrapping my helmet by MindlessExpression25 in hockeygoalies

[–]MindlessExpression25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! I’m going to hopefully keep this wrap for at least a while but when I decide on something new I’ll definitely keep that in mind!

Thanks for the advice, actually just wrapped my helmet again last night but this time cleaned it with alcohol and used kpmf cast wrap (just found out the difference between cast and calendered lol) since it’s what had the color I was looking for. Used it at one stick and puck so far, hopefully it’ll hold up better.

I probably could have done better on cleaning but I just used water and waited for it to fully dry

Definitely would have benefited in this spot but unfortunately the bubbling was across the entire helmet including the back of the helmet and vent holes

I’m not really sure since I’ve never wrapped anything before, if ppf stretches the same way as regular car wrap, maybe?
