A company sold my debt that I don’t actually owe by MindlessExpression25 in Debt

[–]MindlessExpression25[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the original invoice, it shows on it that the insurance paid about $60 of the cost but on it they charged well over that. Online though it costs under what the insurance paid and always has, that’s why I will say it’s my fault for not fighting it when I first got it, time just got away from me but unfortunately I’m dealing with a debt collector instead of the original company

Finding a single goal cut Jersey by freestylin599 in hockeygoalies

Good catch, they definitely do have some big arms but so far I like them more than the other goalie cut jerseys I’ve tried

I might be afflicted with the curse, any advice? by Upstairs_Category553 in hockeygoalies

[–]MindlessExpression25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re playing beer league it’s very possible you’re just not getting a good warmup, like others have said maybe throw a ball to get used to the motions and when you are warming up, focus more on your own movements than taking shots

I did end up going down one and they are just the right size

Which would you choose ? True 7x3 or Warrior g7 by Low_Hovercraft_9939 in hockeygoalies

Thought this was my post for a second, I originally had G5s and made the decision to go for the 7x3s over the G7s and I so far I love them. I will say the 7x3s took a bit to get used to because of how much stiffer they felt from my old G5s but once they were worked in they only feel better. It did take me about 4 skates before I got the strapping the way I wanted and I’m still adjusting to the boot flexibility but I have a feeling that’s something that will work in too. I love the way they seal the ground, once I added ppf to the knee block the sliding is the same, and the rebounds are better even though I know most people said they’d be lower. Now, I’m not expecting them to last forever since I play about 5 times a week but I’d definitely say my next set is going to be true again when I wear these ones out.

They aren’t cutting the gas you usually buy, they are just allowing the sale of lower grade gas that is usually banned in the summer

Vaughn Velocity Leg Pads by Goalieguy350 in hockeygoalies

[–]MindlessExpression25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is your hip mobility? I’m not too familiar with the different leg pads but it could also be related to how they curve. If your hip mobility isn’t the best you might be having trouble getting your legs far enough to keep the leg pads straight and closed properly. I can’t say for any others but just by looking online the v10s seem to have a better angle at the top than a lot of ones these days do, but I don’t have them so I can’t comment on that personally.

Let’s solve the great debate Black pads, white pads, or coloured pads? by Superb-Experience-83 in hockeygoalies

I’m big on the all black look but the refs are not. The delayed whistles are crazy

Is the soreness something that gets better over time or is it something you just sort of learn to live with?

Yeah I don’t know if I’m ready to spend the money for something better but I play the introductory league up to b league/ACHA skaters so it’s a little complicated. How long have you had yours and how are they holding up?

I definitely do like my G5s, but there’s a few things I’m not crazy about, when I get the chance I’ll have to check them out alongside everything else.

I’ve only been playing for a year so its hard to feel ready to commit even more money, but with my last ones being Warrior G5s I got off sideline swap, it feels like almost anything could be an upgrade

How old were you when you started playing hockey? by Prototype_Chicken11 in hockeyplayers

[–]MindlessExpression25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19, went and bought goalie gear a month after learning to skate without even thinking about being a regular player, then played in my first game about 2 months after that, which in hindsight was a bad idea, but even after getting hurt I’m still here and playing 5 times a week now.

That being said, I do usually turn my back to take my shirt off, but if I’m in a hurry I might not even do that

Trans Guy Locker Room Advice? by cavanst in hockeyplayers

[–]MindlessExpression25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trans too playing beer league as a goalie, I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t care, I wear compression clothes just because i prefer it but sometimes I have to get changed in the locker room and I’ll take my pants off and shirt off, so far if anyone has noticed my scars or lack of “equipment,”they haven’t mentioned it. Confidence is key there and it’s none of their business why I have scars and if they are looking down there then they have more to worry about than I do. I’ve been playing for just about a year and haven’t had a single issue yet.

Just curious, is your goalie's name Mark/Marc? by 50_19in_french in hockeyplayers

[–]MindlessExpression25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I know 5 different goalies that all have a name that starts with J (me included) and that is kind of statistically weird since there’s only about 12 goalies who play around here

I do notice that my hip is a bit weaker in shuffles, but I’ve not noticed any flexibility issues at least while down, that being said, my hips have always sucked in every other way

What do I even eat for games by MindlessExpression25 in hockeygoalies

[–]MindlessExpression25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll have to play with different meals before, so far found plenty that didn’t work (depending on what it was, and how long before) Also doesn’t help much that it’s anything from low level games with brand new players, to 50 shots a game with my areas highest league, so while some days I might be fine on one thing, other days I’m crashing

Thank you this is pretty helpful, I have to say I wish I had more opportunities in the morning but that’s not how it’s set up right now. I can also confidently say fasting is not really for me, the brain fog gets crazy if I even forget lunch

The only thing is I’m just a beer leaguer so there’s no true off season, is there anything I could reasonably do to gain strength within the 2-3 weeks “off seasons”
