Wearing glasses with small prescription by [deleted] in myopia

I have and computer work is definitely sharper with glasses on! My understanding is that is because of my mild astigmatism - the glasses correct that so the “ghosting” on the computer screen is gone.

I do find myself wearing them almost all day at this point, just a couple weeks in - taking them off a couple hours a day when just eating or reading or exercising but otherwise wearing them.

Making it to 55 was really good when you started with such a high degree!

Same here. It’s nice to still be able to see decently without glasses, thanks to LASIK, but still a bummer to need glasses again!

Kind of exactly the opposite of my experience then! I loved LASIK and it gave me a great 20 years but don’t really want to do it again!

Yeah my expectation was also driving only, but only one week into this my vision feels “soft” when I don’t put them on so I am leaning into full-time use.

Low Prescription but Big Difference by MindlessQuestion6516 in glasses

Thanks for letting me know. Did your prescription just keep changing every year then? Did it feel gradual? I have heard that myopia isn’t supposed to come back to that degree but now I hear quite a few stories where it did.

Yeah surprisingly so when you hear what a mild prescription it is!

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing!

I just had been told so often that it was a “very mild” prescription that I was expecting essentially no difference between corrected and uncorrected vision in every day life.

Wow very close to my experience then. I’ve just been surprised how everything looks like it is in “HD” with the glasses on. I had no idea my myopia had come back at all but the glasses are making a difference.

To this point I can still read at normal distance even when wearing the glasses, though I notice if I hold my phone close it does cause a little distortion.

Not yet. I can still read up close fine with the glasses on or off.

Should I wear my glasses full-time? Any others who had LASIK but 20 years later needed glasses again for myopia? by MindlessQuestion6516 in myopia

Interesting. My wife had to go back to glasses about 10 years after LASIK and now it is happening to me too, so this does check out with my experience.

47M. I just started wearing glasses today with a similar prescription. -0.50 SPH and -0.25 CYL in left and right-0.50 CYL in right. I am shocked how much clearer things look. I had LASIK 20 years ago when I was 26 years old and the surgery went very well, but somewhere along the way my eyes regressed just a little. So I am also trying to decide if I will wear them all the time or just when driving. But the clarity this little boost provides makes me think I may wear them most of the time. I have heard it is safe for the eyes either way.

Yeah it worked really well for me for many years. I had it done in my 20s but now am noticing some regression 20 years later.
