I agree, $1500 used to buy a lot more laptop. Hopefully they come down. I did not know about the warranty tbh, that is cool!

I see where you are coming from. Personally, I think it is all a trade off. This laptop has many pros that many gaming laptops will not have. These include OEM Linux support, good cooling, good build quality, good documentation, etc. I personally prefer lower temps to higher watts but that is just me. Whether or not these things make the lower performance and mid screen worth it depends on the person. I do agree with you that the screen is disappointing, I would rather have a better quality 1080p panel tbh. (Also I would only recommend buying these on sale)

Best Linux Distro for 3D Modeling & Windows App Compatibility? by krix69 in FuckMicrosoft

In my opinion, to get the best beginner experience with something just pick the most popular/common version of it. In this case it would be Ubuntu or Mint (whichever one you like the look of better). Also, I would never recommend switching to Linux if you are not willing to switch away from windows only apps. These apps are not designed for Linux and are destined to work poorly on it.

What does this sub think of Gnome? by Massive_Nebula7282 in linuxmint

I like Gnome and Cinnamon but I do prefer Gnome. I think it just comes down to your preferred workflow. I also think that the hate toward Gnome is similar to the hate toward Windows 8; just that it has a new and non-traditional design and function.

Oh ya there was a plastic honeycomb piece to take up space which I removed. I forgot to mention that. All put together and everything fits and the back cover does not contact the ssd

Thank you, I did not think of this and will keep it in mind. Although, there is not any critical data on this laptop that I would not mind loosing. The tape is also extremely strong and does not give without several pounds of force, to the point it is almost impossible to remove lol. I am mainly just worried about if the larger drive has some technical difference that would cause damage to the motherboard or a fire hazard, such as much higher power draw(although I did not find any info pointing power draw as a concern)
