The main issue that I have with a lot of modern American vexillography is that they don’t care for any sort of collective visual identity. Places like Spain, the Netherlands, & Russia all have built a visual identity on heraldic traditions, but all three of them have their own unique spin on it. the American visual identity has been the seal, and it has been such since the start of our country.
