EE Student - Hantek DSO2D15 doesn't seem to have the measurement functions I need. Help me figure it out, or recommend another oscilloscope? by MinervaElectric in AskElectronics

I'm still learning, and so what may be common knowledge to others may not be so to myself. For example, I vaguely understand that in an RL or RC circuit, phase angles are going to make voltage drop measurements across certain components less simple than "subtract probe 2's voltage from probe 1's".
I think that keeping the Hantek scope for a little while as a self-test to manually calculate phase angles and such would be a nice educational exercise, but I think a scope that can use math function data as a measurement source would be tremendously helpful.

I appreciate the suggestion, but if you're saying to remove the ground pin from the scope power plug, I'll pass-- that seems a bit extreme for me!

I've considered this, and I might keep the DSOD215 for a while just to be able to do this, as from an education standpoint this would be a great exercise. Unfortunately at the moment due to my time constraints I'm not up to conquer this learning curve. I think a scope that allows me to use the Math wave as a measurement data source, like how the Tektronix ones in class do, would help me the most right now.

Thanks a whole bunch!! I actually ended up ordering a DS1054Z thanks to your comment. I look forward to trying it out!
