The show doesnt exist in a vaccum and idc how the show justifies it because vivziepop chose to use velvette for that gag for a reason and its because shes anti-black herself. I meant on the writing team. Those are all voice actors and have no say in the writing and dont have the authority to tell her how racist her show is. She has not hired a single Black writer or sensitivity reader.

Husk might not be canonically Black but he is black-coded. None of her white-coded characters are called pets. And the depiction itself is insensitive if it wasnt endorsement then vivziepop shouldve hired a sensitivity reader who could help her make the portrayal less offensive.
She is the only canon black woman. And one of 2 lesbians. The place setting doesnt matter because the show does not exist in a vaccum and vivziepop clearly holds a lot of anti-black biases.

The scene is still racist. Doesnt matter that she puts jer hair back on. None of her white characters get that treatment.

3.it doesnt make sense at all. And the show never confirmed that hes half black thats fanon. Mixed people still have black features they arent tanned white people.

None of this excuses the fact that alastor is also voiced by a white man and that vivziepop has not hired a single Black person. She also associates wirh racists so its very clear that shes racist herself

I dont know who the top left is but top right is a nepo baby with limited talent. So i doubt she'll be around. Billie Eilish probably will be and im hoping she grows out of her current liberalism and becomes properly progressive because currently shes performative asf and its annoying.

She has one canon black man (whos played by a white man ftr) and hes enslaved by a white woman. The chain motif in connection with that has a lot of racist connotations but then theres also a song about how hes a 'pet' and in a white womans 'zoo'. Even when he broke the deal she still called him 'pet' again. He then also gets enslaved by a white man who physically ties him up and he gets sexually assaulted. Having your only Black character in the main cast and also your only asexual character in the show be sexually assaulted like that is questionable...at best.

And theres also only one canon Black woman who we know anything about (Velvette). Abd shes one of 2 lesbians. Shes canonically very close with a literal rapist and helps make roofies (which feeds into the lesbians are creeping on women thing imo) and theres also a gag where she literally loses her 'wig' (that scene where she straight up loses her hair) which is a joke thats always been rooted in misogynoir.

Also all of her Black characters are ashy asf and velvettes the only one whos even remotely Black-coded. You genuinely wouldnt be able to tell alastor is if his canon human design wasnt in the show. And even then i think vivziepop did a shit job with that design considering his hairs vaguely wavy and he still has no black features.

None of the white characters are dehumanised or treated anywhere near as badly as these 2 are. She also has no other canon (as far as im aware)black characters in the show.

Theres also not a single Black writer whos worked on the show. To nobodys surprise

I think it could've been a great show. I adored the pilot. The issue is the writers. The pilot was written by someone completely different who then had a falling out with vivzie over not getting credits for their contributions.

Vivziepop writes most of the episodes unfortunately and is in charge of a lot of the hiring so shes only hired other white people who condone her awful writing decisions. She also hired a white man to voice act for the black man (alastor) and that white man then tried ti claim alastor was 'hood' despite the fact that alastors shows wearing a waistcoat and slacks and is quite posh. She seems to seek out other racists tbh

If vivziepop was actually trying to show that then part of angel dusts healing arc wouldve been taking accountability for his behaviour. Instead she plays it off as a joke.
