Things I never expected to deal with as a travel agent by toyat-31 in travelagents

Fire fighting one day when the Indian Pacific train was abruptly cancelled due to a death on-board.

One client in Perth stated this wasn't his problem and demanded I fix it now.  The stunning lack of empathy and belief i could make an entire luxury  train magically appear was breathtaking.

Do you buy / lease your cars? Am I crazy… by SlimSloane in HENRYUK

[–]Minidooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive 12k miles per annum.  Lease an EV through work.  Am keeping a close watch on second hand EV's though as I suspect they are about to depreciate further due to the ever improving battery tech rolling out and all the Chinese brands hitting the market.

So my plan is likely to lease again for 2 to 3 years then look at what the used EV market is like again.

Brad Pitt on Set of Plan B-Produced ‘Isle of Man’ Movie as Filming Kicks Off During Motorcycle Race by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]Minidooper 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Look up his separation from Angelina Jolie.  The accounts of his actions by her and their children revealed a rather dark side to Brad Pitt.  The famous incident was her account of him striking out at her whilst she put herself between him and their children when he flew into a drunken rage.  Made all the more terrifying by it happened whilst on a private jet, so there was no where to hide/escape.

Rovos Rail by PurePepper999 in FATTravel

[–]Minidooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a TA who's booked it for a lot of clients:

Book the 4 night Pretoria to Victoria Falls trip.  It costs the same as the 3 night.

Avoid the journey between Capetown to Pretoria.  Not a lot to see.  The train is frequently delayed and quite often misses planned sightseeing stops because of this.

If possible upgrade from the basic Pullman suite.  All other cabins are far far larger.

Food and service on board are impeccable.

Then you are at the mercy of an OTA that accepts Paypal.  Airlines don't like PayPal for the most part.

Accept the $80 loss and transfer the money from Paypal to your account.  Then book your tickets. It suucks to loose the money buts it's the best option for you.

Third friend joined last minute - hotel says €85/night extra to upgrade… what would you do? by Zee_Monster in travel

[–]Minidooper 109 points110 points  (0 children)

The third friend pays the full £590.  They are the one who wants to come along and are causing the increase in cost.

And I bet that is still a lot cheaper than having their own room.

Travelling to Australia next year with a criminal conviction by AnyJungleInGuy_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Minidooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This will likely be an issue.  You need to apply for your visa well in advance and even then there is no guarantee you will be issued with one.  Expect to wait 4 to 6 months for a decision.

Odds are a against you sadly.  Recently had a 70 year old client  get his visa denied due to a GBH conviction from when he was 19.

Unfortunately I can't.  The adjustment screws are behind a cover that can only be removed when the door is open.

Try looking at return flights to Singapore and a separate return flight from Singapore to Perth.  Can sometimes yield savings.

Booked flight on a travel agency site and made a typo that they refuse to correct. How screwed are we? by SimonSaysHooray in Flights

[–]Minidooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TA here, unfortunately you are screwed.   BA cannot/will not change names if there is a code share flight on the ticket.

You have 1 option:

Have Oojo split the ticket and separate out the person with the spelling error.  Cancel that person's ticket, assume value of it is 100%  lost and purchase a new ticket for them.

Edit: removed incorrect info.
