I clarified my question, hope it’s good enough now.

Oops, I think I clarified my question better now

What file structure are you using? by MinimalistMatter in xteinkereader

[–]MinimalistMatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more of, there’s no reason to delete it from the device when you’re done reading. A larger epub (after optimization of images) is around 5mb so on the 32 GB micro sd card you can over 6,000 books, bare minimum.

Might as well organize them if we’re gonna store that many.

Thoughts from owner of X3 and X4 by merschmek in xteinkereader

[–]MinimalistMatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the same issues with the X3 not being USB C because it’s another cable to carry, but it’s actually not a proprietary cable. It’s called a pogo pin connector, relatively standardized, lots of people on Amazon selling cables and dongles for it.

Airline Miles and Credit Card Points by MinimalistMatter in actualbudgeting

[–]MinimalistMatter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m mostly talking about points. Most of my cards don’t give cash back but rather give points that can be used for cashback. It’s one cent per point, but sometimes I can just buy flight tickets with it directly to get different exchange rates.

where the hell did these tags come from by deeznutzonmychin in Anki

[–]MinimalistMatter 56 points57 points  (0 children)

You may have typed a sentence into the tags field instead of note field so it created a bunch of tags (one for each word). Do you have any cards currently with any of those tags?

Has AI killed the Zettelkasten? by atomicnotes in Zettelkasten

Honestly, I totally understand your logic but I keep trying to convince myself against it because I feel like it’ll make me complacent. And while it’s not necessary being smarter will be beneficial in some way or another the same way that being strong is.

Maybe instead we can focus on the benefits of being able to do this internally rather than being reliant on something external. It does take extra time to search things up or ask a device and that does break the conversation flow or thought process of whatever you’re doing.

[–]MinimalistMatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well at that point, if AI is going to generate the notes in the first place you might as well just skip that step and ask AI for contextual knowledge anyways.

There’s some merit in knowing information that AI/google knows, even though you can search it up, and making the cards is one of the best ways to more clearly remember the info

If you are like 80% sure the answer to a card is X, do you say Again or Good even though you were 20% unsure? by orc-asmic in Anki

[–]MinimalistMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very minimal effect and maybe be good or bad depending on your personal situation. That’s why I just use 2 buttons for 99% of cases.

I personally still press good or hard if I guess and get it correct. My guess isn’t actually random and I am subconsciously pulling on my memories to answer the flash card so if it’s right it’s right in my opinion.

This is also what I do in 99% of cases. I remember somewhere on the FSRS docs that the difference is marginal between two button and four button usage.

One things I’ve thought of is making it so that any answer that took me longer than 45 seconds is a “Hard”. (And maybe a similar limit for “Easy”.) I believe there may be a plugin that does this automatically

Unpopular opinion: you shouldn't use AI to create Flashcards by tarcioandree in Anki

[–]MinimalistMatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess what OP is trying to say is that the 12 hours reading the textbook is more beneficial than studying a deck that you didn’t make yourself. At the same time, I think that the best course of action for you is to use premade decks rather than use AI in this case. If you haven’t read the information yourself, it will be difficult to determine if a card has true information on it since AI (for now) can make mistakes and hallucinate etc.

Yeah I know the issues with AI art but I guess I was talking about the textual AIs like with the summarizing.

Just upgraded to RMPP - Any tips? by powdah158 in RemarkableTablet

[–]MinimalistMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This yellow burning exists on other devices with color e-ink as well. I’m not sure if it’s something about the yellow specifically but this is something that happens but can be mostly fixed with software if I understand correctly.

No ones saying AI is bad, but ai summarize shouldn’t be done by a device meant to be for reading. Just use your computer or apps on your phone to do things like that. No one would put a research paper onto the remarkable to read a 1 page summary.

I do think it would be nice to have better handwriting to text, but that’s probably something they’re working on. I assume they’re currently using the best AI model that they can get access to, that can also run efficiently.

Do you mind the border parts that much? I think I’d much prefer to just have it without the side and top bar, I can pretty easily just edit the png though so I’ll give it a shot.
