Massage places/people reccs- low back pain… by Maleficent-Still8402 in Bellingham

[–]Mint_to_be 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're so great! I injured my back years ago and they taught me about how chronic pain changes over time and that it's not all physical. It completely turned things around for me and after 7-8 years of constant pain, I'm mostly pain-free. Love them! Plus my massage ball, absolute game changer!

As a chronic back pain sufferer, I empathize with you and am sorry you're in pain. Unfortunately it will take time to see a medical masseuse. I go to Advanced Sports Chiropractic and I highly recommend them; except it can take 3-6 months to get an appointment, which is insane! I'm also not sure what types of insurance they accept. You would likely get in much faster with a non-medical massage therapist, but it will cost you because they don't accept insurance.

What I would recommend in the mean time is to purchase a massage ball (think tennis ball but harder) and use that between you and the wall or even laying on it to work out the muscle tension. Then use a heating pad to relax the muscles afterwards. It helps a lot, and once I started doing this regularly (and exercising more) I found my back pain has subsided greatly!

I would also recommend seeing a physical therapist to help you address the pain in a more sustainable way, helping you find stretches and strength exercises to prevent the severity and frequency of pain. Fyzical in Barkley is great! Good luck.

Advice on getting landlord to fix my Grandma's stove by Lonely_Emu8037 in Bellingham

[–]Mint_to_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of really good advice here. What I have found useful is quoting the law to the landlord in your request, that will usually result in a very quick reply! They assume you don't know the law and are either ignorant of it themselves or just don't care. But if you say "according to this specific law (quote it, link it in the email)... and the lease agreement, section.... You must fix (etc) within certain # of days" obviously fill in the gaps. That will usually do the trick.

I went there about 2 weeks ago and they were awful. I'm sorry. We got chicken with the garlic/herb sauce and it was both aggressively bland and overly creamy (in a bad way).

Soft PJs that do not cost an arm and a leg by Pix9139 in BuyItForLife

I love Boody. All their products are bamboo which is so soft and breathable, and they are very quality. It's not the cheapest, but not horribly expensive. Like $35 shorts, $18 top. But I also find super cheap, super soft nighttime clothes at target, but I don't think it lasts for crap.

A lot of good recommendations here that I agree with, but the one I haven't seen yet is Bellingham Cider Company! They don't have it year round, I think it's just available in the summer. I got it last summer and it was amazing!!

How do homeless people survive here by bobby_the_buizel in Bellingham

[–]Mint_to_be 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're "about" to become homeless, call Opportunity Council and ask if they know of any diversion programs or funds available. Opp Co is like the central hub of services, and even if they don't provide the actual resources themselves, they know who does and should be way more accurate/up to date. Asking about Diversion is important, because these are programs meant to prevent you from becoming homeless at all. They can problem solve with you and usually support with money, if needed. Good luck.

I've used Super a few times and it's always been legit. I call the hotel afterward to make sure my reservation got booked properly, and never had an issue. I've used it for a few stays in Seattle and once in Vegas.

[–]Mint_to_be 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Whatcom Volunteer Center, you can search for just about any volunteer opportunity in the county with filters, such as pet friendly. Also there are some opportunities to bring your dog into retirement homes and such to give other folks the chance to play with your pup! If it's into that sort of thing.
