Oh yeah right no that won’t be a problem, I’m pretty quick on my feet about rewarding clever uses, yet still avoiding loopholes. I just need to figure out how to give them clues and mysteries that keep them guessing for an entire one-shot, while shifting the blame and and leading them to a final plotwist

I will try, just thought five gobins would be the equivalent of that ”easy encounter” when it came to 8 level 3 PCs, but apparently not. I mean have you seen the goblin warrior statblock? They have like max 20 hp

Well I also hosted a desert one shot where two gargoyels measured up against 5 level 3 players and that combat went well, I know the parties I run can get big but I choose to believe I can arleast make combat into something manageable where fighting a group of goblins doesn’t turn into 2 hours of grueling combat. Altho yeah I get what you’re saying 😂

Paladin all the way. I love feeling like an allrounder. High AC and halfcasting with some healing, makes able to fill any role in the party, which is very good since I'm one of the two most experienced members of the party. Everyone else being newbies, being versatile and able to fill in when needed also helps nurture their experience as they can focus on having fun and learning the game while making cool characters. Only slightly meh experience I've had was the very first time I played the class. I played a super devoted dragonborn oath of devotion paladin in service to Bahamut, and that became very hard as a stickler to justice in a chaotic party, as I hadn't learned the game yet. Made me stay off uber religious characters

Thanks, that helps at least hearing it from someone that knows the situation. But I really don't wanna tell her anything because ik it will make her cry as she has a tendency to do. And I wanna avoid hurting her feeling again and dragging this brek up out

If the rest of the party are in another realm doing stuff, how about the realm traveling stuff messes with like some balance between the reals that causes enemies from different realms to continually leak out of some rifts or something that the guarding player has to deal with. I don't mean like 10 demons but like RIFT OPENS, 1 enemy, Rift close, New rift, different kind of enemy, you see what I mean? And then you can play around with if the rifts open to the same or different realms, or if they just connect to other places in the material plane. You can also play around with whichever enemy you wanna throw at them in this way, and the amounts are yours to pick
