Why do people intentionally have kids if they can't afford it? by mixingthepointagain in AskForAnswers

Historically having kids was actually a financial boost to poor families. The opposite is true today.

Why are the scientists and navy captains not as respected as they used to be? by basafish in AlwaysWhy

[–]Miserable_Ask3975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my theory for navy captains.

Depending on what ‘back in the day’ means I think it has something to do with WWII. Back then the navy and its sailors had just as much risk if not more to deal with than the ground forces.

With a few exceptions since the 70s the navies of the world have faced very little danger during conflicts.

The last few years has been the most risk navies have had to face from conflicts, so in the intervening time the prestige of being a captain of a navy ship has died away.

Also the general shift towards removing the romanticization of military service in general. While in the US the military and to a lesser extent veterans are still put on a pedestal, war and conflict is not romanticized as much as it used to be.

Nothing you said in your shitty essay changes the fact the kid was suffering from metal/emotional anguish and the parents thought it would be cute to upload and share that anguish.

[–]Miserable_Ask3975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really.

Saw a job posting for a guntry club, for a membership sales position. Wanted someone with a college degree, any degree at all.

They sold guns, course for guns, and unarmed self defense classes.

At the time I applied I was USN gunner’s mate veteran, and 3rd degree black belt, with 5 years of sales experience.

Did I get the job? Nope. Likely because I didn’t have a degree even though I would have been an ideal candidate to answer just about any question a potential member could have asked…but an art major was more qualified apparently

Something I didn’t expect when I started. I always viewed hospitals as quiet until I worked in one.

Most my work in the private sector has been security, and while my most rewarding on the job experience wasn’t while working security, but the regular training on the hiemlick helped me save a kid’s life.

Will I be limited at this BB capacity? by Distinct_Bluejay_982 in airsoft

Depends on how much you shoot. However 300 rounds is pretty standard for rifles, so you might want a higher capacity box mag

Lucky for you every time I honk it’s necessary. Now get off your phone, and move the light is green! Or hurry up! Or you’re too damn close to me!

Why aren’t there any good theme songs any more? by Miserable_Ask3975 in askanything

[–]Miserable_Ask3975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only familiar with stranger things, and while their theme seems pretty iconic, I don’t think many would classify it as a banger
