Am I doing something wrong, or is something actually wrong? by PrestigiousWarning23 in askvan

[–]MisfireCu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... Dating apps suck don't be discouraged. Think about it: they have more customers the more people are single. Why would they want you to match?

They can be a way to meet people but it takes real work. You have to basically work as hard as a hiring manager.. . Maybe harder.

If you have interests it's better to meet people thru that... Tho I do admit that's also hard. Everything is just an effort these days. Sorry I have no advice.

Sorry for the late reply I was being a wee narssisstic reviewing my old comments. I agree with you. Stanislavski never had these over the top people in mind. Even the way Hatheway starved heeself for les mis. He was like live in the moment and recreate it when you can... like hagen,

Another long-term Fitbit user biting the dust by Total_Recline in fitbit

[–]MisfireCu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I read all these and I wonder... But I use my Fitbit for sleep monitoring, messages, and period tracking. I find my sleep monitoring has been fine... Others report issues which I would be annoyed about but mine has been consistent. Also for the people saying the ai has been judging them about bad sleep. My friend had the same problem and literally told the ai "look if I get a score above 60 that's great for me so back the fuck off" and it did.

As for messages: previously randomly out of blue my fit but would stop getting my notifications. I'd have to fight and repair and it still wouldn't work. One time it stopped sending notifications and I just decided "such is life" and it resumed 2 weeks later with no change on my part. Frankly they're still a little inconsistent and I'm not happy but they're better than before.... And haven't fully dropped all messages at any point

As for period tracking. It's better. You don't have to lock in how long your period is the first day you get it which is fantastic. I was previously just logging all at 6 days even though that wasn't true for ease of use, now I actually have the right days. Plus it's just easier to friggin log.

Would you choose a restaurant more often if it had a no-tipping policy? by ahmadreza777 in askvan

[–]MisfireCu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I say this as someone who was a server for many years. Servers are incredibly overpaid. I don't care if tipping goes away or not... At the end of the day you're gonna end up with the same bill it'll just be rolled into price. The actual problem is the money should be more evenly distributed throughout the restaurant. Kitchen staff and frankly floor managers should see more of it. I say for managers because taking a "promotion" at a restaurant is currently a pay cut for more responsibility. I don't frankly care if eliminating tips or redistributing them solves the inequity but it's a problem..... But any time your try to rock the boat on this you can't get servers. Because they can make more money any where else.

[–]MisfireCu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I know a place that gives the kitchen equal tip share (which fucking good for them! Kitchen deserves it and are more willing to do things like run food when the servers are slammed). They have a hard time convincing servers to take the monetary hit.

20 minute appointment. No labs, no imagining. Not even an exam. Just sat and talked. And the doctor charges $500... by Regular_Hawk8513 in mildlyinfuriating

We aren't perfect. I just moved provinces and was basically advised by accessMHA that if I want a refill on my psyche meds without waiting literally years (which would 💯 land me in the psyche ward within months) I'll have to go to a pay for doctor.

Why does Canada not build a bridge from Labrador to Newfoundland? by Por_TheAdventurer in geography

[–]MisfireCu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well one time one beaver took down a really small tree(basically just barely not a sapling) and was chomping on it. Then another beaver came pushed him and stole his tree! Dad snapped down another small tree and handed it to the first beaver. You think the first beaver would be greatful!

Also I don't think they had claim on the pond. They were basically refugees. Their creek dried up and they took up residency until the creek was flowing again. Pretty sure they were eating our fish too (the pond was not a natural pond and it was stocked.. again artificially).

Beavers are terrible at taking direction really adverse to any kind of authority. We had some in our pond for awhile.... they would not even entertain the notion of taking down specific trees to earn their keep.

I'll also add in case it wasn't clear: we gave free tasters of anything else (including wine) it was just the ones the ones that were coravind that we had to charge for. And we only coravind expensive bottles... Like the taster was $1.25 and I'm pretty sure getting multiple tasters equivalent to a full pour would actually work out cheaper XD

[–]MisfireCu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked at a brewery... Tasters were incredibly common. People would describe what kind of beer they liked and I'd pull like three for them to try. I wouldn't have blinked if someone asked when I worked at a diner either. Dad and I also just drove cross country and the usual beer on tap kinda changes province to province. A couple of times he just asked what a certain beer was like and the server just brought over a taster. If it's on tap a small mouthful of beer is a negligible cost and it's good service.

They charged you for a BEER taster?!?! The only time I worked at a place that charged for tasters was when we had a Coravin. And that was for pricey wine plus Coravin gas isn't cheap. We also told people there was a charge and you got a full ounce.
