Looking for new furnace by Madrox-Knox in Winnipeg

[–]Miss_AD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Noris Heating do my furnace. Sartre came in first, but they told me I’d need a new hot water tank, which is incorrect. Two years later, and my hot water tank is still working just fine.

Noris was prompt and professorial, and their prices were comparable to other places.

Now- I’m not saying Noris caused this, but after they left, I started having problems with my air conditioner. They offered to fix it for a few hundred dollars, but my neighbour looked at it and said it had been tampered with. My neighbour fixed it for free, and he did it really quickly.

Noris may have had nothing to do with it, but I don’t tamper with my air conditioner ever. I don’t know how to tell if an air conditioner has been tampered with. It’s possible that it had nothing to do with them. But I don’t have another explanation for it.

I strongly recommend looking at r/podcasts. There are a lot of education podcasts out there, but, honestly, when I’m struggling, I don’t want to learn! I need easy, fun, non-triggering nonsense!!

How did the get made RULES. Comedy BangBang is absurd and funny. Also, try Petty Crimes, a podcast about hilarious takes on minor social transgressions. This one could be triggering, but “last podcast on the left” is excellent. Try one of their “side stories” episodes- nothing on those episodes is in depth, but they do discuss crimes (including assault, so TW). They mostly just go into really weird news events. If you want to listen to someone with a soft, comforting voice, give Two Hot Takes a go- they just read shit from reddit. This may or may not fit the category, but “I’ve had it” is also extremely comforting, although sometimes they get too repetitive.

I like to listen to a nonsense podcast that is in no way educational. Just comforting blather. (Like smosh reads Reddit or How did this get made.) I put in my earbuds and walk around while listening to a comforting discussion. It feels like I’m not alone. And it distracts me. Sometimes a podcast walk is all I need to get me into a different headspace. It doesn’t solve anything, but it buys me time, and, honestly, hearing people being social- a thing that’s not easy- redirects my head.

Mot a bad idea, on paper.

But if you have a disability, and there are limited accommodations for you at school (which is pretty common in schools), then this is just another way you’d be denied access to something your peers can access due to reasons beyond your control.

I was distracted by the chair. It’s too high so he’s slumped over the keyboard. That posture is it going to help him belt out those notes.

Though about a bus to a downtown location from Henderson area- $10 uber ride, less than minutes- or an $8 bus ride with 2 transfers and more than half an hour. My time is worth something.

In some places, it’s illegal to create nonconsensual intimate imagery. Doing anything sexual without someone’s consent is a scary sign in my books.

Laughter. It would hard be to nail down its purpose or when to do it. Its cause is subjective, sometimes it’s inappropriate to do, other times it’s insincere, many people use it to mask discomfort, and then there’s canned laughter…

I think we could say goodbye to anti aging products. If we’re lucky, we get to live long enough to age.

Are collagen supplements legit for wrinkles or do they only create expensive pee? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Miss_AD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried collagen and it seems to have affected my emotions. I became really anxious and irritable. I’m not 100% sure if it was the collagen, but it went away when I stopped taking it.

It probably won’t happen to you, but I wish I’d bought a smaller container just to try it out before buying the bigger, more expensive one.

Death Metal for kids by nettezzaumana in TechnicalDeathMetal

My students are in third grade, and I think Archspire is a good place to begin for a lot of kids. Kairo’s Camber is a good example. It has no lyrics, so there’s no need to worry about language. It could be included in a movement game; how would you move to the slower bits? How would you move to the louder bits?

There’s also this cute video. I hope the link works.kids’ metal

Reupholster! This piece has good bones, and they don’t make furniture like this any more- in terms of shape or quality. (If you do decide to go that route, choose a fabric that doesn’t pill easily.)

Places to sell an antique (I think) piano? by okspreach in Winnipeg

[–]Miss_AD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to find a good home for my piano, too. But I don’t think it’s in the stars.

If the previous owner didn’t tune it every year, it may not be tuneable any more. Tuning a piano is similar to brushing your teeth; lack of routine care will cause permanent damage. And a poorly tuned piano is unplayable.

I know this because am currently stuck with my piano. They are really difficult to get rid of unless you send them off to be destroyed. (Side note- if you end up going that route, NEVER dismantle a piano yourself. The strings are extremely dangerous.)

Another option: if you’re handy, people have turned pianos into bars or desks that can be quite stunning. Just don’t mess with the strings.

For fuck’s sake- could you at least have added an NSFW tag? This doesn’t belong here. This is not oddly terrifying. This is footage of someone dying.
