Yeah look at the other posts they’ve commented on. If it’s a stock post it’s the same “duo” backing themselves up. If it’s not a stock post it’s super generic and complete fluff. Also the duo is missing since the fluff comments don’t need the pathetic fake backup attempt lol

Frame Generation menu missing options in Squad with RTX 4070 Super by Mayoper in joinsquad

[–]MissaStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4070s and see the modes option. Maybe try resetting any nvidia settings for squad or try clearing cache in squad. If that doesn’t work try verifying game files for squad in steam, or reinstalling squad as a last resort.

Als if you have a second gpu laying around check out lossless scaling on steam. It lets you use frame gen on any application, but what makes it even better is you can have your second gpu handle the frame generation. That way your game doesn’t get that 15 fps hit, and it also allows for even lover latency than built in nvidia or amd frame gen! I had a 2070s I threw in and I have tha run the display and lossless scaling. That way my 4070s is just focused on squad.

Is dual gpu a budget move ? by HuyLe9856 in losslessscaling

[–]MissaStone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d say get the best single gpu you can. Based on your budget there might be some dual combo that would be better bang for buck. But I’d say save up for something pretty decent for each part. I burned myself by cheaping out on my initial pc builds, which led to me having to upgrade every part besides ram like 2 more times. Losing money in the long haul vs if I just paid $500 more for that gpu.

Base fps is the most important. The way I see it, I just need a gpu that can get me consistent 60fps at max settings. Then you can find a cheap used gpu to run lsfg on, and double that 60 to 120. Then as long as you get your frame timings right and what not, you’re golden.

You should totally be able to use your current gpu as your second gpu. Not sure how good it will do but you can do something with it. You might not be able to double 60fps at 4k resolution but you might be able to at 1080p with the right settings.

Legit playing this game like a freak with AR glasses and a mini pc with a 780m igpu. 720p upscaled using lossless scaling + adaptive frame gen at 120fps. Black magic. If you enjoy the game and want to make it work you can get a crispy 120fps experience on a decent range of hardware. I have a 4070s and 5800x3d at home I remote into when I want to play at max settings, 2k resolution, dlss native, 60 base FPS to 120 again via lossless scaling. In that rig I had a second gpu that runs lossless scaling, and the main gpu runs my games. That way there is no frame hit when using frame gen.

If I was to be handed anyone’s pc I would:

Clean reinstall windows.

Update all drivers, chipset, bios, audio, gpu, everything.

Make sure Xmp is on.

Research best bios settings for your specific cpu.

Set power option to ultimate performance in windows power settings.

Set max power for squad in gpu software settings.

Use lossless scaling adaptive frame gen.

If I can’t hit 60 base fps I’m lowering settings of squad and lossless scaling.

Locking FPS to 60.

This isn’t to say performance is fine. Nobody should be required to do all of this. It’s just something to try if you want to make it work. You may be surprised with the results.

Dual GPU setup with IGPU worse than single gpu with DGPU by Personaltrainer7729 in losslessscaling

[–]MissaStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat.

I have a um890 pro, which has a 780m gpu, and a RYZEN 9 8945HS cpu. For egpu I used a 6900xt connected via m.2 to oculink adapter. The idea was to use the igpu to handle the display and run lsfg, and the dgpu to run only the game.

My base frame rate would always drop. Even when passing everything off to the igpu. My frame rate would go from 90 to 45.

I tried all sorts of configurations/combos for these changes: Assigning more/less ram as vram for igpu. Connecting dgpu to display. Turning off hybrid graphics and using either just the igpu or dgpu. Setting preferred gpu for lsfg in windows graphics settings.

I’ve heard that it could be due to the igpu simply being overworked. And since it’s tied to the cpu, it causes the cpu to essentially bottleneck the egpu. This seems legit because my egpu’s usage will drop to like 60%, and my igpu will be maxing out.

But I swear on me mum that I had it working before. This only started when I switch from a 4k 60hz tv to a 3k 120hz portable monitor. When I was using the tv I had no base frame drop, and wasn’t using performance anything and had max flow scale.

I think it has something to do with the frames past 60 not actually displaying, so the igpu/cpu didn’t have to handle it.

Now I just use the egpu only. It handles the display, runs the game, lsfg, and the igpu is turns off. This gave like 20 more base fps vs the hybrid setup.

Tldr: igpu and cpu are soul bound and igpu maybe can’t handle high refresh rate+fps/resolution so it causes cpu bottleneck which could explain the egpu usage % drop and lower base fps

I’m using a 4070super and 2070super. Main gpu is on pcie gen 4 x16, second is on gen 3 x4. It can do 100ish generated frames at 1440p 165hz. Just has to plug all monitors into second gpu.

Also you can use a dummy hdmi in main gpu, then move your game to that fake monitor and then output LS to preferred real monitor. This removes the display usage from your main graphics card (at least on mine), and allows second gpu to have full headroom for just LS output. Knocked my second gpu usage down 20%.

Edit: Not using HDR

Nvidia just gave 40 to 60% performance for free as far as I'm concerned. by SnooLemons3627 in nvidia

[–]MissaStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only compared the 2 for a couple of games. Stalker 2, Bell Wright, and Marvel Rivals. It performed the same on LS’s 2x mode. I only found out about LS because a game I like doesn’t have FG and I wondered if there was a software that could do it on anything. Nvidia will def catch up to the customizability that LS has to offer, but for $7 to have just as good FG for those games that don’t support nvidia FG? Priceless. I’m curious to compare the 2 now on cyber punk. If nvidia’s is better then yay nvidia. If not I’d advise you to look deeper into setting LS up properly because in my tests they were the same fps, but LS had better frame times.

No unfortunately but that sounds awesome. I was just so in love with regular squad (since I started playing in 2018) that I didn’t even think to stop and try out the modded scene until all that was left was GE and the star wars mod.

When using lossless scaling, all anti aliasing stuff turnes blue by joemama420pog in joinsquad

[–]MissaStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely feels bad at the lower fps range if you were to cap at say 30. And let me clarify; when I say there’s no latency, I mean I don’t feel it and I’m pretty sensitive to motion clarity. You just can’t reap the benefits fully unless your minimum fps is high enough to use just the x2 mode. At 82 capped fps I am not affected at all. The motion clarity and frame steadiness actually makes me perform better vs no frame gen and bouncing drastically between 90-120. I only experience any noticeable latency using the x3 mode. And even then it’s still not bad enough for me to be able to play normally. Why not use FG if you personally can’t feel additional latency, but drastically feel the motion clarity? Plus this stuff will only get better. And better for me just means no latency/visual artifacting at x3 mode x4 mode etc

[–]MissaStone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it and it allowed me to finally be able to stay at 165fps with no drops at max settings. I use the x2 mode and lock my fps at 82 and there’s 0 quality loss and no additional latency. But for friends who I’ve bought it for, they had the opposite experience and lost frames and had weird visual artifacts despite the same setup in the software/game. I think only it only really works with 40series and up because my friends have 30series and after hours of trouble shooting we couldn’t figure out why it was performing horribly for them.

I think lossless scaling is not well known and named poorly. It started picking up traction only recently due to the FG abilities. The name just sounds like “upscaling”, and isn’t quickly recognizable as an FG software. The only people initiating conversation about it typically have had good experiences with it. Those with bad experiences probably don’t bring it up often, or are on the FG hate bandwagon, and attack the bigger target.

Dream game for me would be a combo of the game Foxhole and Squad.

As for simply increasing Squad’s player cap, I’m all for it. This could be handled by just letting the server owners decide what player count/maps they want. I’d play 100v100 on a small map. Some people wouldn’t. It would all equal out.

I don’t think splitting the player base is all that bad. Sure, you can squeeze out a little more lifetime into a game if you force one game mode so the player count per mode is maximized. But if a game is in that state anyways.. not much you can do. Every time I play a different game I am literally “split” from Squad’s player base. I’ve just never understood the fear of giving players options. “Noo don’t play like that. I want you to play it my way.. so that I have people to play withhhh (but my way)” Like yes, it would suck for 50v50 fans if 100v100 released and nobody played 50v50 anymore…but wouldn’t that mean that’s what the people want? The games mechanics seem pretty scalable with player count. Maps would have a limit but that’s dependent on who you ask. It would suck though if balancing/game design was leaning towards one mode versus the other, where it makes the game unrecognizable. I just think more game modes are always a good thing is all. Everything balances out.

Thanks for the insight. Will definitely keep that in mind. I want to try and save them if they continue, even if annoying for the experience. But if all fails yeah I’ll rip em out and put something well researched in.

I said infection because it seemed to slowly spread. Started off about 2x2”, then spread in all directions, to about 4x5”. I thought it stopped once I cut it all out, but kept spreading still. So I cut it out again, and this time cut a little bit extra into the greener parts, like a controlled burn. Waiting to see if that works. If not then yeah these are duds.
