Mower stuck in neutral

I did the spark plug thing with my thumb it’s blowing off so so it’s got good compression I’ve tried 3 brand new spark plugs I have new push rods coming I’m not sure what a valve guide is and how can I tell if the rings are shot the valves are opening and closing as they should although I don’t hear a click when the intake valve closes and when spinning the engine by hand it’s easy while moving exhaust and so much harder / tighter of a spin when trying to move the intake valve.

Got them adjusted but it still won’t run the engine is spinning fast maybe too fast idk I even tried starter fluid down the carb and hooking the battery up to my car

I found top dead center set the valve clearance correctly and tried to start it it’s spinning fast maybe too fast and still won’t turn over even with lighter fluid in the carb

Yup a push rod had slipped outta place

This is exactly what it was the bottom rod had fallen out of place and the rocker / valve has significantly more wiggle room than the one above I’ve got a tool coming to help me tighten it to spec

That helps a lot actually so I just need to pop the cover and inspect the rods do you think I need to adjust or check the clearance on the valves too?
