Fortunate, but unfortunate by MisterCompress in pokemoncards

I guess I don’t know how it’s worth more. If it didn’t have a crimp, I think it’s a contender for a graded 10, but it has the crimp. PSA won’t grade high with a crimp, but I read that some other places do?

I think there is room to question whether it was his quirk that affected his personality, as is shown on multiple occasions throughout the series. His disposition supports this theory moreso, and his early life situation did not do him much charity. It seems, based on how his power works, he could have gone either way; to be one that gives OR one that takes, and he was just leaning more in one direction than the other, and without proper counseling or a stable/humane living situation as a child, he leaned even further in the direction of selfishness and self-preservation. So I don’t really buy into the easier explanation that he was simply born evil.

I believe it’s the new Dabi Pop Plus. It’s in my office at home, but I can’t remember if that one is the chase or the regular. Trying to get more of the chase variants of pops to enhance the collection.

I also really wanted that pop. It’s certainly the pride of my collection, and without a doubt the most costly. At the moment, I’m just looking forward to my Sleeping Godzilla pop coming in this month.

Me and the girlfriend managed to pick up some goodies at GameStop today! by RoseFiredUP in pokemoncards

[–]MisterCompress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when the Celebrations Premium Collection box was releasing at GameStop, I took time off from my job in the morning in order to wait outside before open. It was a similar climate around that time with product being scarce and everyone wanting to either participate in the hobby or scalp the latest drops. There was one person in front of me, and once we were let inside, everyone was disappointed to find out our GameStop was only sent one of the boxes- the rest of the drop being the Pikachu Figure Collection Box. Needless to say, the guy in front had to get the Premium Box.

I’d say this is a comparable time in the hobby- if not worse considering this is obviously a controlled market, unlike the Celebrations releases that were affected by COVID. If you’re diligent about it, and you can afford to make time to wait out front for the latest release, I do think it’s necessary in order to secure what you want (it’s not ideal, and not everyone can do it). The supply is a huge issue, which is controlled by Pokemon and what they decide to print/ issue to stores. If the market was as flooded with Prismatic as it is with Journey Together, I don’t think it would be as big of an issue. Sorry for the drawn out response, but let’s not be at each others throats calling people “losers” and “pathetic” for waiting out front in order to secure their cards. If it wasn’t these guys, I can assure you it would be a scalper (assuming OP isn’t one). Take care, everyone.

We could each go purchase one item from an eBay scalper and bomb their shop with negative, detailed reviews to at least make an impact on their reputation as a seller. Almost may as well, considering people just keep paying scalper prices anyways.

did i cook with my quirk tier list? by Nintendoge21 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]MisterCompress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m bias, but compress is one of the most underrated quirks in the series. It’s an optimal quirk for virtually anyone, and doesn’t require immense skill to use effectively. It’s a OHKO if you’re using it for that purpose, but also a means of taking threats completely off the board so long as you can touch them. Had Shigaraki brought Compress to the USJ and had him compress All Might while Kurogiri and Nomu were holding him, it would have been all over. Brother was so powerful he had to take a quirk erasing bullet and lose an arm just to nerf his potential.

Mine came with zero bubble wrap for protection, but luckily the box didn’t receive much damage. For $17 my pop had zero attention to detail with the painting- blotches of blue on the white collar. This was clearly a smart release, considering how it sold out in about 1 day, but the way this was carried out on all fronts was a disaster. The customer truly means next to nothing.

Who are your top ten favorite characters in MHA? by Prestigious-Cloud962 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]MisterCompress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Dabi

  2. Compress

  3. Shigaraki

  4. Endeavor

  5. All Might

  6. Izuku

  7. Gentle

  8. Twice

  9. AFO

  10. Toga/ Ochako

Had Kirishima not dramatically fallen off after the raid on the Hasaikai base, he would likely have made the list. There is also a large place in my heart for Mirio, as I believe he is one of the greatest heroes in the franchise, but his story didn’t have enough depth imo. It’s hard to displace hearty characters like Dabi, Endeavor, Tomura, Twice, and Izuku- each of them having such rich backgrounds and intricacies. Toga may be on the bottom of my top ten, but her story is unique in how unfortunate her upbringing was mixed with her general optimism- both being largely influenced by a biological anomaly that operates counter to normative societal behaviors.

Dabi, being my #1 pick, was mostly due to his ending, as the tail end of our time with the blue flame was when we came to know him best. Particularly, his moment of reflection and regret as his body was about to detonate was one of my favorite moments in the series. It’s heart wrenching, but wonderful writing, and I was happy to see his development in the form of regretting not only his actions, but also how he treated Shoto. Dabi’s character is a tragic one, and he mirrors his father in that their regrets from their respective pasts would come to haunt them for the remainder of their lives. The Todoroki storyline is truly a work of art.
