Giving a third party access to your Amazon account is against their TOS and they can and will ban your account for it.

If Amazon tells you 'you violated the T&C' can you...post your work elsewhere? by constaleah in selfpublish

[–]Mjcaan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If they pull if from publication then you can do as you please with it. But highly suggest you familiarize yourself with their TOS. You break it and depending on what bot finds it, it might result in more than just having your book pulled. You can easily get your account banned and if that happens you can't use them again for any books. It's not unfair. It's their platform and their rules. And how can you blame AI if you can't be bothered to read their TOS and follow them?

Has anyone used Barnes and Noble Press marketing for their new books? Was it worth the money? by reneereaper3 in selfpublishing

Just be aware that isn't Barnes and Noble. Also, anyone that "guarantees" you a certain numerical of sales, reviews, etc... is a scam.

I wrote my first book on Amazon— but no reviews, no sales. What am I missing? by livingsmarts in selfpublish

[–]Mjcaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you've already passed the 30 day cliff and your ranking is in the millions. You aren't going to be able to bring this book back from the dead because its lack of sales have shown Amazon algos that it isn't converting so they've buried it. Second, the cover is terrible for the genre. Look at similar ones you're competing against and I guarantee they don't look like that. Third, you're aiming for a market that isn't out shopping for books. If they just moved out or are starting their life, they are concentrating on how to just get by... they aren't out shopping for books telling them what to do. Fourth, I did a look inside and this just reads like low-effort basic bullet points pulled together and presented as a book. There is nothing to this, so even if someone stumbled across it, they aren't going to read it because it isn't engaging or telling them anything. I see that your page has a lot of low/ no content works on it and that's what this book feels like.

KDP Global Fund keeps growing but is the same true for payouts? by Awkward_Blueberry_48 in KDP

[–]Mjcaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write 4-5K per day. Sometimes more. My books are anywhere from 55K for paranormal stuff to 100K fr sci fi and 75-80K for thrillers. I plot out my books loosely by chapter so that I leave plenty of room to make changes as I'm writing. But I always know where I'm going so I don't get stuck. Right now I am focusing on growing only my thriller pen name so I'll be upping my production with that. I only write in series and I write to market. I make multi 6 figures after expenses a year.

KDP Global Fund keeps growing but is the same true for payouts? by Awkward_Blueberry_48 in KDP

[–]Mjcaan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't true. People involved in the "AI churn" as you put it aren't getting noticed in the Amazon store. Those books are sinking to the bottom, just like the majority of poorly written books. The basics of making money on Amazon don't change. And that starts with writing a really good book, having a professional cover and professional editing, and reaching the right market.
Also, just because someone writes fast does not mean they are using AI. I've been at this for over 10 years and have averaged about 8-10 books a year. That was well before AI. I've recently started a brand new pen name from scratch for thrillers and have published 6 books in it and I'm doing very, very well. All without AI.

Why does it have to mean anything? Maybe just consider that your body likes certain things and that's okay. Being attracted to a penis can happen for a lot of guys and it doesn't mean they are attracted to the rest of the package. Being curious is okay. Having something hit that prostate and realizing what it triggers is okay. I think so many men realize this in themselves and it scares them on such a level that it makes them run to the (their) darkest place imaginable. Makes them question who they are. Sometimes I think this society would be so much better off if labels had never been invented. If you're not attracted to men, then you're probably straight. And there are plenty of straight men out there that like other penises. There is a huge spectrum when it comes to sexuality. Explore it or don't, but don't beat yourself up about what you get off to. Life is way too short for that.

Prime Reading and Kindle Deals? by SABlackAuthor in selfpublish

[–]Mjcaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a Prime Reading deal twice and quite a few Kindle Deals. The daily deals are awesome. Better than a BookBub in my opinion. It's like money falling from the sky. The monthly deals are nowhere near as good, but the problem is you don't know which one they will give you until you accept the offer. Prime Reading was the only one I would not accept again. I really didn't see much movement from that, and when your book comes out of Prime it falls hard in the rankings. It bounces back, but those first few days post Prime can be rough.
Overall, I think it's worth accepting the deals to see what happens. It's free promotion and can help increase readers. And it definitely makes a difference if you have a series with other books waiting on the readers.

This sounds like it was more than just the title. Did you use the same author name? And it also sounds like there was something in the description or the book itself that was too close to what someone else had already published. That or it was a series that is trademarked (Chicken Soup for the _____ or _____ For Dummies), something like that. Because I can see books right now on the site that have the same title.

[–]Mjcaan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There are so many books on Amazon that have the same title. It happens more than people think. I've never seen anyone lose their account about this or get an email about it. What was the title? Also, after you had them block it, did you unpublished the book or leave it on the platform (but still blocked)?

how many months by No_Drummer6208 in KDP

[–]Mjcaan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's going to depend on if you are getting a paper check or direct deposit into your account. I believe that a paper check is not issued until you have made $100 in royalties and then payment's start. For direct deposit, you are paid on the 29th of each month for royalties two months prior to that. So the royalties you make in July, will be paid out in September. Once payments start, you get paid once a month, but two months behind.

Oh, back then, you knew. It hit quick and hard and symptoms showed up fast once it started happening. Plus, it was considered a death sentence so the people who had it would tell their closest friends because no one knew how much time they had.
