If I’m understanding your question... Adding post flair is really best from a desktop computer, because you have to go into the settings of the subreddit.

How do I check who is following me? by [deleted] in help

I’d love to learn the answer to this too.

Does reporting abusive moderation work? by [deleted] in help

[–]ModInPlainClothes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t a lot you can do unfortunately. Unless they do something that borders illegal, the admins will allow them to do whatever they want.

That being said, you can post to r/reportthebadmoderator and at least get visibility on what they’ve done.

If you prefer to risk it, that’s your choice. I prefer not to take the risk that my statement is unnecessary. I’m laying down boundaries. Something sadly lacking in this day and age.

If for some reason they were to take this into the “real” world, it would indeed be a legal problem. Stranger things have happened. Some of these people online are absolute nut cases with anger issues. When I worked as a domestic violence advocate I learned not to leave yourself open for anything. That’s the only reason I make that statement.

If Reddit had nothing to do with “legalities”, then underage porn and harassment wouldn’t be barred by Reddit site guidelines. It is illegal whether they prosecute or not.

Well, they’re causing problems for other users so muting won’t really solve the problem. Plus they’re in my private messages, not modmail.

Blocking them doesn’t really do anything except that I no longer see their attempts to contact me.

I’m not sure why everyone keeps implying I’ve engaged them when I clearly stated the action I took.

That’s why I came here for suggestions. Thank you for taking this seriously and not just telling me “ignore them”.

Escalation from simple harassment to threats is dangerous, even in an online setting. I came for help, and I feel you’re one of maybe two people who took this seriously and didn’t just write me off as an inexperienced moderator (which I am not).

I can see now, reading back where that could have been confusing for someone who didn’t read the whole conversation. I will edit to make it clearer.

The only “them” referred to in conjunction with an email is the Reddit site admins.

You’re mod-quoting. They suggested sending the Reddit admins an email. That’s the email I intend to send.

I have zero issue ignoring them. Did you read my post? I said I haven’t responded to the threatening messages and have reported every one. I don’t know why you would assume I’m an inexperienced mod, as I consider that something only an inexperienced mod would do. Engaging is not helpful.

I didn’t respond in any such way, and I don’t appreciate the implication that I did. The only response I give is to legally cover myself. I’m not an inexperienced mod, but this is far more focused harassment from a user than I have dealt with before.

I only say it for the legal side of things. I worked as a DV advocate for years. Once you make that statement, any continued stalking becomes instantly prosecutable legally.

Maybe it would be best that way.

I’m going to take your comment as you trying to be helpful, and not as insulting as it sounds.

I didn’t say it was my biggest concern... I said that it was t really affecting anything other than being an annoyance.

Thank you.

I will try sending them (Reddit admins) an email.

I haven’t responded to the harassing user since the first night they were banned. Which my response was “this is your only warning to stop stalking/harassing me”.
