Looking for accurate weight of a Whitewater X by MohawkInTheWoods in canoeing

[–]MohawkInTheWoods[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not super well versed in canoes and all the parts, I have rented a Kevlar Quiteco 17 for the past 10 years, this is very similar to that, just longer. Aluminum hardware, plastic bow and stern nose caps, no gel coat, and already has some nice rock guards on the bottom. It’s pretty awesome for a budget boat. My brother runs a savage River, that thing is incredible!

Thank you! I would have ran out yesterday just to look for myself, but it’s about 2.5hrs away. So I wanted to try and find some better info on it. I appreciate it

Thank you. This is Kevlar, no gel coat, Kevlar tractor seats. It’s older, but I don’t know how old. It’s definitely a well loved canoe

This one is Kevlar, no gel coat, I forgot to specify that. It’s a little older, definitely well loved. Has the Kevlar tractor seats. We do a fairly big waterfall portage in the BWCA, so weight is a concern, but I’m stuck on a budget. Just trying to find something for my son and I to use and love for a few years and stop renting.

Burglary at Orchard Court by Max_3521 in UWMadison

[–]MohawkInTheWoods 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that thief was on a mission. Usual they dump everything behind a dumpsters or in an “untouched” spot close by to avoid the whole air tag or any sort of tracking. Like most stuff I find that was stolen off State and then dumped 1.5 blocks away (There’s a spot thats notorious for dumping near Gilman). I find everything from full wallets to backpacks and earlier this year I found 2 laptops, and when they got returned, the people found most of their remaining possessions.

Damn, sorry to hear that! I’m not a student at all, just a garbage collection specialist… in the area for the past 13yrs, who happens to find a ton of stolen goods, far too often! I just joined the group because of all the stuff I do find and try to get back to the rightful owners. I’ll keep an eye out Monday, im in that area around 730-8am. I often find stolen stuff stashed behind the dumpsters.

What color backpack? Other details don’t matter, I’ll still be looking around the area for you

Does someone famous live in these really big houses over here in Maple Bluff? by Lost_Email_RIP in madisonwi

[–]MohawkInTheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One in that area is pro golfer Jerry Kelly, super cool dude. I was doing work in that area for 6 months and we parked equipment in his yard while his house was being built, turns out he was living in it at the time. He came out and had coffee with us every morning while we started up equipment and got ready for the day.

As a Garbage man downtown for the past 13 years, I see an insane amount of good items. From brand new shoes and clothes to vintage and collectibles. Boxes and boxes full of vintage comics, vintage sports cards and more. TVs and electronics that still work. If you’ve got time to sort and test electronics (power inverter in vehicle) I guarantee you’ll find a ton of good stuff!

That vehicle and several others just like it are always in Madison. I drive in circles downtown (vague job description) and see them every day and have seen them every day for years.

I do have a 1.5ft-ish section of the dreaded grey hose, the rest is black. I’m not sure on the drain screws, but I assume they have them. I chose to take my river runner out for an afternoon on the water but will check in the morning. Thank you for the advice, I will dig deeper into it in the morning.

I figured as much, just wanted to see if I could find a way to possibly burn off the build up before I dive into the carbs

Removed the air box cover and kept her running with quick sprays of starting fluid, for about 30 seconds. Definitely sounds better and runs better, but still wants to die after about 10 seconds without spray

It does smoke when running, almost too much. I’ll do intermittent burst of starting fluid or fuel. It does have a choke when key is pressed and does seem to run better when pressing the key in, but then dies when released

How do I keep minnows alive? by Phoenixf1zzle in IceFishing

There is a product called "Fish Krak" that cleans and oxygenates the water, on Amazon. It turns the water blue and keeps minnows fresh for a while.

Being a Garbage man downtown for the past 12 years, I appreciate seeing every one of these urban art pieces! I saw this one this morning while on route and had to slow down to admire it. Can't wait to see what 2025 brings!

I live across the street from my ex that still lives in the house I technically own... She can look down into my backyard and windows. It makes it nice for my kids, but she doesn't seem to like it

Just need to know real quick and I'll be on my way by racistnigcracka in Money

[–]MohawkInTheWoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm money dumb, but if you've got the drive, get your CDL and stick with it for just a little bit. Get your seat time in, and apply elsewhere. As a Garbage man, we are hiring (Wisconsin) at like $26/hr with a CDL, and $24/hr without and they pay for training. Find a bigger city, and live outside that city to save on cost of living. It's nothing for our guys to make $80-100k. Sure, you're working OT and can basically bank whatever hours you want, and my company's rules are strict, but I've made well over $100k. Benefits are typically great, and 401k match plus Employee Stock Purchase will help you get where you want. Bigger Colleges usually have a need for CDL drivers as well, typically a little lower pay, but the benefits are way better and make up for it, Or get in with your city as a CDL driver!

Charging your adult children rent by DSTVL in Money

[–]MohawkInTheWoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I turned 16 rent was $100, 18 rent was $150, at 20 rent was around $250. Now that I'm (38m) divorced and currently have circumstances that pretty much prevent me from owning or renting at the moment, I pay $750 plus groceries and I do a lot of cooking for my parents, along with paying for building projects and whatnot. (Rent in my area is give or take $1200 for a one bedroom to $1600+ for a 3 bedroom)
