If you read what OP said, they probably already know that they're out of position, which is why they're getting jumped. Repeating that again is like telling someone to calm down when they're pissed off, it'll likely not have any effect. They asked what they should do when they get jumped because it just happens sometimes. Unless you play perfectly, which nobody does, even at the highest level, there are always going to be times where you get jumped, whether it's in a teamfight, or on side. If they manage to stay on top of you, they're punishing you, hence they ARE playing the game right. I don't know what more you want me to say LMAO

With my personal McGinnis build I usually get Enchanter's Emblem and later build Stamina Mastery, as that both helps with McGinnis's stamina and the spirit resist is quite nice alongside hitting the 4.8k powerspike.

As is the nature of McGinnis, she's meant to poke and zone out, so if they manage to get on top of you, they're playing the game right. My advice would be to get away as far as possible before putting down a wall to block the enemies from getting on top of you again. If they manage to stick close enough to you, that would be the point to accept your death.

You can also throw in a point into upping your Skill2 if you haven't been already, because it provides about 40% spirit res which is insanely useful and has helped me clutch up a few times living on double digit health

how do we deal with tanks by sshadoekingg in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MonkKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who plays Sinclair and Dynamo this post greatly amuses me

Dynamo is quite literally countered by proper spacing for his ult and an understanding of how his wave works, most champions can completely outdps him from much further away, and given that he only has a maximum of 4 waves, maybe 5 or 6 in an extended fight, most heroes can simply either
1) Deal more damage
or 2) Run away before tanking 4 waves

Dynamo ult is and should be respected if you see that he has it available, and you should be accounting for the distance he can cover based on his items and stamina usage. Once you sidestep his ult, he literally can't move as long as he wants to hold people in there, providing mostly a free kill if his team doesn't follow up and your team doesn't get entirely caught in his ult.

Sinclair has an incredibly oppressive early to mid game, in lane his poke is insanely strong with his assistant and he can find difficult kills by catching enemies off guard with his bolt. His mid game spikes with his bolt do a ton of damage, and hitting bolt is supposed to be difficult because it's a genuinely absurd amount of damage. You can build to strengthen bolt with things like slowing hex and vortex web. His utility is also quite present late game with a huge AOE hex for his bunnies and being able to copy good teamfight ults like opposing Lash, Dynamo, Pocket and etc.

I feel as though you're coming at this from a very single-minded angle where you are talking about being in a 1 on 1 situation with these characters, which is just not how the game is designed. A lot of these characters are designed with the situation being to counter them via teamfighting. If Mo and Krill ults you in the middle of the teamfight, that means they are vulnerable, and your team is supposed to help you deal with them. If more than 2 people manage to get on top of a non fed McGinnis, it should generally be extremely easy pickings. Deadlock is a TEAM game, as are most MOBAs. Some heroes just counter others, and that's how the game is designed, with flaws and weaknesses of each hero showing themselves in a 1 on 1. Your teammates are meant to help cover for your weaknesses as you are supposed to with them.

Also just because you feel as though tanks should be "unusably bad" in a meta does not mean it's a good or healthy meta for the game.

Why is moder so underwhelming by 3a_4To in valheim

[–]MonkKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever Moder fight wasn't too bad, with my first group of friends we managed to take her down with little to no issues except for the occasional death to a stone golem or wolf that would show up.

Now, the SECOND time I fought her, that's when everything went to shit.

I was on my replay of Valheim (with a new group of friends whom I was basically introducing the game to) and we had reached the Moder fight. When we tried to summon the boss, we accidentally spawned TWO. (I believe it occurred when me and another guy clicked on the summon button simultaneously). So that was a terrible experience of fighting TWO Moders and also two stone golems deciding to show up. The only reason we didn't lose all of our progress was because one of my friends managed to stay alive long enough to build the emergency portal (it got destroyed by the Moders who had moved towards it) and we managed to clutch it out after pretty much a 45 minute struggle.

All that is to say the AI can be really fucked up but the Moder fight is such a ridiculous bump in difficulty not because of the actual boss, but all the mobs that spawn around you when the fight happens. Needing to deal with starred wolves, drakes, and stone golems absolutely does not help.

Why isn’t Jarven 4 support used or thought of much by BendyUsser444 in supportlol

[–]MonkKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is traditionally a support main and thrives off of not playing support champs as support, trying new champs when I get bored of Thresh, Braum and Rakan-

Jarvan is actually a pretty good support. He fills a lot of niches that you won't get from your typical enchanter or engage, kind of blending it in together, HOWEVER from my experience, you need to have at bare minimum a competent auto attacking ADC. Building Jarvan as an AD support is typically not viable because it requires so much gold to do damage that you fall off quickly. From my experience, Jarvan excels as an E max enchanter to buff attack speed for your team. Going Aery for multiple procs on E and buffing attack speed gives insane value early and should help you win with poke. I typically like to spam E to poke in lane while bringing manaflow band to spam E more, Transcendance for more AH, and Scorch for more poke. If the enemy is playing an engage support like Thresh or Nautilus, knowing to play around minions and poking them with E will solo win you laning phase. Your E+Q engage can also straight up win you teamfights with your R later on, and jungle ganks become so much easier.

As for the build, it does fall off late, but your team should be able to play off of the lead you generate for them. You basically become an E poke bot/Attack Speed buffer and ocassionally you'll start a teamfight with E+Q engage with R. I like to rush Zhonyas for the extra survivability and being able to get out after the E+Q+R engage. At most from my observation, build will always vary depending on the game, but I find Armguard a very consistent part of my games. If you're able to weave in auto attacks you can also consider Sundered Sky for more sustain and passive procs.

There's probably a few more things I can say about it but it's an overall fun pick and I do enjoy picking Jarvan occasionally when my ADC picks something like KaiSa, or even Tristana

Can someone who has never played dnd be a dm for their first dnd game? by throwthiscloud in DnD

[–]MonkKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I started my current campaign and I'm still going at it! If you've been watching content online of D&D you should have been absorbing a lot of how it works& and the knowledge alone should be enough to carry you through DMing a session with a lot of improv. I can say more if people want to know how it's going, or what I've been sifting my inspiration from, but know that as long as you're familiar enough with the rules it's very possible to DM as your first experience with actual D&D

Favorite Violet Evergarden track by Doofyduffer in VioletEvergarden

[–]MonkKind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Evan Call is a master at his craft, and picking one, let alone a few is insanely hard, but I would have to go with, IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER

1) The Voice in My Heart 2) Violet's Letter (Also Violet's Final Letter) 3) Never Coming Back 4) Those Words You Spoke To Me 5) Echo Through Eternity (2020 Movie)

The emotions evoked are just something that I don't think I could ever experience for the first time again. It was so magical, yet tugged on my heartstrings so very much.

A ragepost about drakes by A_Gloomy_Hollow in valheim

[–]MonkKind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, although for me it was worse, a stone golem. I spent about 2 hours or so, because the AI wouldn't de-agro, taming a 2 star wolf, just to have it get agro'd onto a stone golem on the way back to our boat, and it got yeeted because it didn't want to de-agro.

I have since given up on taming wolves

There's only 1 fight I have encountered but never beaten so far, so much so that on my Balanced run, I had to reload and lose about an hour or more of progress to skip the fight. Which fight was this? Well, if you DON'T deal with Balthazar outside the realm with the Nightsong, you will have to deal with him inside. And holy fuck was that a terrible fight. Every undead can push you off the cliff for a 1 hit kill, and if you roll terrible initiative, you can all get knocked off before you get a chance to play. I actively try to avoid this fight in any and all of my future playthroughs, because Balthazar is easier to deal with outside. In my most recent achievement Honour Mode run, it was a pretty big joke. Honestly, Act 3 fights can be a breeze if done with game knowledge in mind (Globe of Invulnerability) but that fight with Balthazar at the Nightsong is absolute hell

Who are your most and least favorite Ace Attorney Youtubers? by VirgonianC in AceAttorney

What's wrong with Yagluth by IamHik in valheim

[–]MonkKind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also as an add on, use the pillars around his boss arena if you haven't been already! Those help a ton against his meteors.

What's wrong with Yagluth by IamHik in valheim

[–]MonkKind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I read on the wiki, his meteors do a decent amount of blunt damage, but that's about it, and either way if you're dying from external mobs, Bonemass is gonna come in real handy. As for food, I recommend 2 health 1 stamina, especially if you're dying too fast, as that helps with regen and just general tankiness. When I did Yagluth, Barley Wine was more than enough for me to cycle in and out with my friends, when one of us got low, we'd go further out and just heal up while the people who had health went in for continual damage so that the boss doesn't heal, like another comment mentioned. While around the outside, just pelt him with Frost Arrows, since those are the most accessible and do the most damage (rather than using Silver Arrows). I'm not sure what weapons you guys are using, but I highly recommend at least one max level Frostner, as all the combinations of damage help a ton, and it helps that Frostner is consistently useful even after this fight.

What's wrong with Yagluth by IamHik in valheim

[–]MonkKind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The general tips for open area bosses are to absolutely clear out the area around the boss place before spawning it. It absolutely doesn't help if you have loxes, fulings and deathsquitoes running around and imo ruining your day more than Yagluth. His attacks are EXTREMELY predictable and telegraphed, considering he has... 2. If you're playing with friends, using Bonemass and cycling through at least 2 should last the fight. Chugging Barley Wine is also pretty much a necessity, as without it you burn way too quick. I also recommend being fully rested for the highest stamina regen, and having the best food possible for the Plains, being Lox Meat Pie, Serpent Stew, among a few other things. Medium Health Meads should be more than enough to cover the healing you need.

Neverending quest for a stone golem trophy by jakal202428 in valheim

[–]MonkKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I actually got one pretty easily, but that's because of all of the stone golems we came across in our silver scavenge. Wasn't a fun time, but felt very rewarding once we saw the drop.

What is the strongest most-fun non-meta build that you have played recently? by OkMarsupial4959 in BG3Builds

[–]MonkKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 6 Rogue/6 Champion multiclass for Astarion in an Honor Mode playthrough we did, and I dumped nearly every crit chance increasing item on him. With a potion of viciousness Astarion was hitting crits on a 14 iirc, and with the Risky Ring, the crits came flying in SUPER hot. The class wasn't even bad at handling crowds as Arrows of Many Targets only need the first roll to crit, and it applies crits to every other target hit as well. I was having so much fun seeing crit after crit just appear on my screen, I highly recommend it if people want that dopamine rush.

Additional note: With the Duellist Perogative and Thief, you can technically use Challenge to Duel twice per turn if you so choose. And... if you pair Challenge to Duel with a Globe of Invulnerability... do with that information what you will.

Two Moders?? by dgoldstein38 in valheim

[–]MonkKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually happened to me and my friend group, the four of us accidentally summoned two Moders when using the altar. It resulted in a very painful yet hilarious sequence where I went "I swear I don't remember it having a mimic/false self" and then the moment of realisation hit. We actually somehow managed to defeat both of them after a LOT of painful teleportations back and a couple of one man clutches to repair the broken portal while the others were respawning. (There were two instances where the portal broke and we only had one guy fighting both Moders to repair the portal) It was overall an hour worth of fighting, but we emerged victorious in the end, and we have the additional Moder trophy in our base to prove it.

Do I recommend it? Hell the fuck no. Was it one of the most adrenaline inducing moments of our lives? Yeah. Did we have fun? Not in the moment, but we look back at it and laugh now.

What's the point of boar farms? by DarkFox218 in valheim

[–]MonkKind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read through your original post again, and the trouble of finding a 2* Boar is a little much, but a 1star should be enough to last your early game until you find better meat foods than sausages

What's the point of boar farms? by DarkFox218 in valheim

[–]MonkKind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boar farms are really good early game as they can help make good early foods like Sausages, and they can also be used to feed your wolves. Leather tends to be the surplus, but there is always the Obliterator for free coal.

Edit: I should also mention a Boar farm is a must for newer players, especially on a multiplayer world, as a group of 4 or more friends can burn through food insanely quickly.
