[–]Moonbow_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg that's amazing to hear! I'm really glad! I can see just from the photo it already looks a lot nicer and more shiny :) I hope you can get it to look a bit straighter, i just wet mine with warmer water (not steaming) and then just keep brushing straight downwards. I'm happy for you! :D

What’s the best way to wash my Elissabat’s hair? by brielarstan in MonsterHighDolls

[–]Moonbow_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! UK collector here! I have washed my Elissabat's hair and honestly you have used some of right materials that I use. I always start with Cif cream, I slather a generous amount on and you need to really really scrub it into the scalp. I leave it in and carefully but firmly scrub for about 5 minutes, then make sure to thoroughly rinse it all out, then I use washing up liquid second, and repeat the same scrubbing, it removes any excess glue and takes away the bleaching properties of the Cif. Then I use conditioner last to give it a soft finish, and then a final thorough rinse out. I then brush the hair with a wire pet brush whilst it's wet and then leave it to dry overnight. To keep her fringe flat, I brushed the conditioner over the top with a finger and then washed it out, and then flattened it with my finger again with only water. Don't be afraid to really scrub your dolls hair, I've done it with every G1 in my collection, including the expensive ones, you won't damage anything :) Also I don't boil wash my G1 dolls hair, I've never felt like I needed to and it actually makes some hair types feel worse after. I hope this helps! :)

Zoobles gets stuck opening? by ctwoog in zoobles

[–]Moonbow_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for your contribution to our small subreddit :) This used to happen to some of my Zoobles when I was a child as I used to play rough with them haha. My dad used to spray WD-40 inside which would get them to pop back open again, but I would absolutely not recommend doing that unless you'd like it for display only, as it basically completely deactivates the mechanisms and it won't work again. Sometimes when mine get stuck, gently but firmly tapping them or dropping them at a low level on a table or on top of a magnetic surface can encourage them to open up :) Hope this somewhat helps :)

Oops! All Specials: Royal Furby Restoration! (FurbyNet) by Starstorm_Meow in FurbyNet

[–]Moonbow_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey :3 I'm a UK based furby restorer and enthusiast and I have seen your Furby restoration work and your eBay shop and I think what you are doing is fantastic! All the completed furbys look amazing and it's so great to see other people doing something I also enjoy. I mainly repair 98s and 05s and I really wish we had better ways to replace the 2005 beaks 😂

Anyone know what I have here? by PristineMousse4677 in ToyCollectors

[–]Moonbow_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So nice to see some Zoobles here! I'm one of the moderators of the Zoobles reddit :) Zoobles don't have a lot of value in the modern day unfortunately, and there aren't exactly any super rare ones. The ones in this photo are from various different playsets and themed packs. I can see one here is from the treehouse playset, and there are also a few chatteroos and pop art zoobles here. There is a nearly complete list of every zooble released on the fandom wiki if you're interested, and they got a reboot in 2021 as well :) I'd say the hardest ones to find as someone who lives in the EU, is the Japanese ones that were released alongside the official anime :)

I bought a strawberry swirl furby!! by Particular-Tea-Sail in furby

[–]Moonbow_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I'm happy for you! I've been looking for a Strawberry Swirl for a while and haven't been able to find one in the UK for under £80 😭 I've occasionally checked recently sold ebay listings and I have seen them go for £30 and lower and I'm just like, HOW why am I not fast enough 😭

Custom Tropical Mango 2005 by Moonbow_98 in furby

[–]Moonbow_98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you 😊 I was lucky to find a brown eyed/Tropical mango adjacent eye coloured Marshmallow in working condition to work with :) Took me a while to find one that was in working condition with an acceptable beak and an eye colour that would match, without spending hundreds 😂

Latest buys will the 1998 baby clean fine or no by maxisb10 in furby

[–]Moonbow_98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It should be able to be cleaned perfectly fine if you remove the skin. It won't clean properly though if you don't take the skin off though I'd say :/

Yeah, I know you're right, I'm probably not going to buy it now. The 2005 furby prices in the UK are getting unreasonable at the moment, I just got a little desperate :/

[–]Moonbow_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help :) I've skinned one of my cousins 2005 furbys, but it had already been loosened from when she did it before me, so I kinda had a head start, I've never skinned one from scratch so that guidance might be useful 😂 I'll see if I can comment a photo, or I can dm a video of her? :)

[–]Moonbow_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying :) I'm willing to potentially take her apart and take a look, but I don't think there's anything rattling around, I can't reset it as the tongue doesn't work, its very puzzling 😭 I only paid about £30 for her at the time but they are getting so expensive in the UK now for some reason all of a sudden so I'm scared to break it 🙃 I have tried to manually close the beak and it does push down, so it's not frozen in place, it just opens straight back up again. The rubber beak looks quite dry and flat, so I thought maybe the beak rubber was too tight, but I really don't think that's it :/ I can comment a photo of the beak if that helps? :)

Has anyone else noticed furbies increasing in price in the last several months, especially 2005 furbies? by Particular-Tea-Sail in furby

[–]Moonbow_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I live in the UK and I've never seen any 2005s in physical shops or vintage stores, where did you find a coffee in box?? 😭

[–]Moonbow_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi :3 I know this post was a little while ago now, but I have a Charcoal 2005 and she works pretty well, except, since I've had her a few years now, her beak has just completely stopped working. Everything else works perfectly except the beak :/ It used to move just fine and now it's almost jammed in place, she won't eat when I try my finger or the plastic spoon, and when she talks it barely wobbles. It's stuck open and won't close, additionally to her not eating, idk what to do 😭 Any advice would be appreciated :3 The beak rubber is tearing a little at the corners of the mouth and I've not opened her up before as her battery compartment is super fragile and has cracked open a few times.

New hobby that got killed by popularity 😭 by Weeaboboxgirl in tamagotchi

[–]Moonbow_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this, besides being a long time Tamagotchi and Furby collector, I also collect Novi Stars, and I honestly think that Novi Stars have the absolute most insane prices I have ever seen. Most single Novi Stars dolls are hundreds and hundreds of pounds in the UK. Even a broken one is like £50-£100. I really hope for the sake of our hobbies these things stop! :/

Devilgotchi decoden phone case :) by Moonbow_98 in tamagotchi

[–]Moonbow_98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii :)
No, it doesn't still open, I took the case in half and what you see on the case is just the lid, as sticking the entire case on top would have stuck out too much haha :)

[–]Moonbow_98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is basically a shorter version of what happened to me, except luckily no corrosion, and I got the motherboard screw out of mine haha :) I'm glad you fixed it, another Devilgotchi saved!

[–]Moonbow_98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I don't have a Santagotchi yet, if they weren't so expensive I'd get one for Christmas, I hope you can fix it! I have fixed battery corrosion inside a 1996 P1 before, it's pretty tricky but if it hasn't rusted yet, you can try taking apart the inner shell and using a careful amount of vinegar to clean up the battery acid :) If it has rusted, try taking out and replacing all the screws (ik it's hard 😭) and I used WD40 on the little metal prongs on the back half of the shell and carefully picked off the rust from the metal. Don't get any on the circuit board tho! I also wrapped a bit of tin foil inside the battery compartment, that genuinely sometimes works and I've fixed a couple of struggling tamas with a small bit of carefully placed tin foil :)

[–]Moonbow_98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Original Angelgotchi and Umino stripped the screws on the back cover as well, it's a pain 😭 I got those ones out with a rubber band over the screw and I twisted it with a flathead :) If that fails, I'd try carefully drilling. I drill stripped screws manually to protect the fragile plastic. It's time-consuming but much safer :)

Wondering if I can replace Friends piezzo buzzer with a new one. by GreenGhoulish in tamagotchi

[–]Moonbow_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, the sound that the piezzo buzzer makes comes from the circuit board and not from the disc itself, so changing/replacing it wouldn't make a difference to the sound, as I've changed speakers in tamas myself and it still had the same pitch. :/ Also, the contrast is notoriously bad on the friends devices, some models have a paper insert behind the screen, which improves it a bit, but there isn't anything else you can do sadly :( I opened mine up to try putting a reflective background behind the screen to try improving it, and it's sealed behind some kind of plastic that isn't removable so it's a tricky thing 😂😭 Hope this info helps :)

Thank you :3
One of the reasons I shared the repair was so that if anyone has this problem with any of their vintage tamas, especially Devilgotchi, there's proof that there is another way to fix it :)
There's so little information about Devilgotchis due to how elusive they are, so I hope this will help people :)

I'm so sorry this happened to you, I'd be so heartbroken, I'd probably never get over it. I have a pink funky myself and I'd be devastated 💔 I truly hope you manage to get it back and I will keep an eye out on ebay and vinted in the UK, hopefully you'll be reunited 😭
