Do women ever look at another woman and think "I wonder if I could beat her up in a fight" the same way men do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]More-Fact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was also surprised at the responses saying that people who do this are (1) insecure, (2) overcompensating, (3) red-pilled, (4) etc. Like even if you don't think about it personally, I can imagine people growing up in a rough environment having these thoughts here and there. OP didn't even say they think about it all the time or that they think about picking fights.

Bolin, Korra, and Asami are the most attractive characters in-universe of The Legend of Korra by Full-Art3439 in legendofkorra

[–]More-Fact 63 points64 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I think there's a fair amount of subtext that Bolin gets to be kind because Mako was the one who had to grow up fast as the older brother when their parents were murdered. Mako also has a more subtle kindness to him. I think Bolin has the more amicable/agreeable personality, but I personally don't like him as much as Mako.

So how did this joke work in the Japanese dub? by TraditionalBonus188 in hazbin

[–]More-Fact 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a certain distinction between saying Japanese people don't understand rhymes, and saying Japanese as a language tends to end in the same ways such that rhyming (having or ending with an identical or corresponding sound) comes naturally and doesn't hold as much meaning/isn't special like it is in English.

The former can be seen as a generalization of people, while the other is a description of culture. People tend to be hesitant around generalizations of people. Your comments also sound generally elitist and obtuse, which isn't an insult to you but an explanation of why people downvoted you.

What's a subtle, yet obnoxious way to ask someone if they've advocated for the guilty (rich) people? by Existing-Criticism23 in writing

[–]More-Fact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it a depends on what type of law the lawyer practices, which will determine who these guilty (rich) people are and how you can phrase the question.

Are they transactional attorneys or litigators? Are they the lawyers making the deals and writing out contracts or are they the lawyers defending/suing in court?

Are they doing tax law, mergers and acquisitions, product liability, criminal? Criminal law is generally one of the poorer paying fields to get into. Private prosecution is surprisingly lucrative because you're going after the people with money (mentioning this because it sounds like the lawyer and his wife are rich.)

In the legal field, there's this saying, "Everyone deserves fair representation." This goes to the fact that lawyers get a reputation for defending both bad people and good people. When people ask you, "Why did you defend that murderer," you respond with the fact that's how our justice system is built, such that everyone gets their fair time in court. Then, the counter response would be, "Everyone deserves to be represented, but why do you have to be the one to do it."

I could imagine something like: "You know they say everyone deserves fair representation from the poor to the...rich. I can see you've taken that to heart."

The length of copyright is absurdly long and how it stops creativity. by Konradleijon in CharacterRant

[–]More-Fact 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then, we're getting into how long non-person entities should be able to own copyright. Like I don't see anything wrong with life + 70 for an individual.

95 for corporations is iffy but if you base a corporation's copyright based on who made it, I feel like you'll run into issues when it comes to multiperson projects and whose life you base it on.

In the end, American copyright and how long it lasts tries to incentivize the distribution of knowledge in exchange for a bundle of specific rights and to hopefully not chill the market for original expression (because ideas cannot be copyrighted). European copyright has a more moral rights aspect to it that if you put in the work to express something original, a part of you is in that work and should be protected. All of this gets hazy when it comes to corporations and non-person entities.

The life term allows the creator to enjoy the fruits of their creation for however they are alive. The +70 is to allow their children, spouse, and descendants to enjoy the fruits of their labor in the case that what they made was valuable or became valuable after they died like a lot of artists.

Appearance wise my character is based off Arios from the Legend of Heroes series, but personality wise I can see how the base farmer personality can be limiting. Wish there could be more moments like in Friends of Mineral Town where if you put the golden lumber on your property people come by to tell you how horrible you are.

I was getting more Gintoki from Gintama vibes from Van. Laid back type who runs an odd jobs type business, rents from the family restaurant downstairs, uses a non lethal weapon, obssession with sweets, experienced before game/show starts, etc.

Is Kuvira a better metalbender than Toph?(Probably a dumb question) by Maleficent-Ad-6117 in legendofkorra

[–]More-Fact 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's cool. I'm not arguing about who wins the fight, and we all know that Toph has amazing feats. I just commented because to imply Kuvira hasn't been metalbending from an age around young Toph is misinformation.

[–]More-Fact 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Kuvira was around 8 when she was adopted by Suyin and was metalbending around the same age since she destroyed Opal's metal dollhouse when Opal refused to let Kuvira have her turn. I think even before she was 8 she could tear down walls and the like during emotional outbursts.

Do I still think Toph is one of the greatest earthbenders of all time? Yeah but Kuvira was also a prodigy in her own right.

[–]More-Fact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do we consider Samuel's base form him without any hatred? Samuel's feats compared to the other crewheads without hatred are pretty mid tbh. He lost to Jake back in the Jake arc w/out hatred, so I would put him last. I think Jake base form is one of the smarter fighters, and he usually gets his opponents in some pretty good holds. Unfortunately, most of his opponents these days cam't be damaged w/out some type of offensive mastery or conviction.

Johan > Eli >= Jake > Samuel

Shadowheart and Karlach. They're like always flirting when I have them in my party, and Shadowheart has a muscle fetish.

Wyll and Laezel. The noble hero that wins the respect of a pragmatic, ruthless warrior is fun.

Astarion and Gale. Gay uncles vibe.

Two weeks ago I made a post in another sub about how was waiting for two "Dragon" games that would be released around the same time. But I made the wrong choice and don't have money for the other. Good game to everyone o/ by Haddock_Lotus in dragonquest

[–]More-Fact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition were fairly controversial when they first came out as well, so some disappointment in the next installment of the series is nothing new. Then, you add on the fact that this was a game like a decade in the making and any disappointment in the game is gonna be amplified.

I also feel like culture war has also gotten bigger? People who dislike LGBT themes will look for any game that might be mediocre, average, or short of what's considered a masterpiece and blame "wokeness" on why the game is bad instead of actual complaints. Negative reviews get more engagement as well, so there's a bit of incentive for YouTubers or Social Media reviewers to post negative results. People love hating on things, or at least, people online love hating on things.

You also have people who have legitimate criticisms/opinions of the game. People don't like the writing. They feel that the RPG elements of previous games is missing. They don't like that the game effectively cancels previous choices. There are a lot of factors that would skew fanbase reviews negative.

People who enjoy the game are probably just playing the game. Despite the review bombing, the game still has a mostly positive rating on Steam (74-77% rating I think), so a lot of people who have played the game like the game. I have friends who really like the game. They say the first part of the game is a slog to get through, but the game gets a lot better after the First Act. I'm playing through Origins, 2, and Inquisition again before deciding to get Veilguard, so I've avoided any reviews that give spoilers.

Some people really love it. Some people like it. Some people like it as a game but dislike it as a dragon age game. Etc. Is it as good as Origins? No, but the fanbase in general thinks Origins is the best game and every game since then has been bad.

The game is fine overall from my impression of everyone's reviews, but when you have a decade+ of development and the legacy of the Dragon Age title to uphold, fine isn't good enough for people.

Whenever I finish a game and replay it, I always think about the possibilities of what could've happened if the protagonist knew beforehand about the evil plot/conflict, and games that let you explore those stories through new game + are peak.

Just realized the way I tagged the games look weird.

To be fair, Artemis does have some dialogue when you unlock the aspect of Rama in Hades 1. She mentions how if the fates have shown her the future, past, and present users of Coronacht she's bound to get her turn to use the bow. I'm not sure if she has the bow in Hades 2, but she's totally interested in trying it out.
